Radical Muslim paramilitary compound flourishes in upper New York state

Situated within a dense forest at the foothills of the Catskill Mountains on the outskirts of Hancock, New York, Islamberg is not an ideal place for a summer vacation unless, of course, you are an exponent of the Jihad or a fan of Osama bin Laden.

The 70 acre complex is surrounded with "No trespassing" signs; the rocky terrain is infested with rattlesnakes; and the woods are home to black bears, coyotes, wolves, and a few bobcats.

Muslim Lane

The entrance to the community is at the bottom of a very steep hill that is difficult to navigate even on a bright sunny day in May. The road, dubbed Muslim Lane, is unpaved and marred by deep crevices that have been created by torrential downpours. On a wintry day, few, save those with all terrain vehicles, could venture forth from the remote encampment.

A sentry post has been established at the base of the hill.

The sentry, at the time of this visit, is an African American dressed in Islamic garb - - a skull cap, a prayer shawl, and a loose fitting shalwat kameez. He instructs us to turn around and leave. "Our community is not open to visitors," he says

Note:

Before any posting police out there has a coniption fit...

I looked as far as I could see back and didn’t see anyone post this before...If it is a re-post...Darn the luck...

Hopefully the substance of the article and commentary following will overshadow any non-malicious intent on my part to inform, entertain and or annoy...

Also posted here, but definitely bears repeating! Radical Muslim paramilitary compound flourishes in upper New York state

Update on story: Blogger who posted CFP Islamberg story had life threatened

Very scary stuff, scary group. Let me say it (again) - the general part of our nation (upstate NY) that shared Woodstock with us, that houses Ithaca, the city of evil, now spawns an Islamic paramilitary compound. Somehow very apropos, it's come full circle, each layer increasingly anti-American and American way of life...

I drive through this general area on occasion, the I-81 north to the I-84 east, and it's got a plethora of hilly wilderness and camping areas, both idyllic and rugged and a convenient way to hide in plain sight.

Not my intent to police you. This stuff bears repeating - especially newsworthy for us in the region, also for our nation. A number of times I have only caught items of interest on reposts, I consider it a bonus, especially something like this.

Yeah I know...

I really looked back, and didn’t see that other thread...

This has been bantered around on the Texas board since yesterday...

I waited for a while and only posted this after someone there goose’d me into it...

Maybe more folks will see this now...

Well, I’m magnanimous about this, you get the credit and reps for posting it earlier today...

The important thing like some are saying is that this information needs to be out there, and it needs to be discussed...

If we have 3-4 more reposts...It won’t offend me...

Do you know what else...

The “update” in the story about the “blogger” who was threatened by these folks needs to be discussed...

I’m going to take a look at all that now, and steer this discussion in that direction...

What do you think???

I believe that is almost as important...We’ll have to see I suppose...

Not a problem!

Maybe more folks will see this now...

This is really the important part. I looked up Hancock because I do drive through upstate NY. I was surprised it was so close to the PA border, also with NJ. It's a beautiful, rugged area, quite popular with outdoors folks. I wonder how kind they will be when someone accidentally wanders in...

All I can say is, it’s legal to have a shotgun in the home. It’s also legal to get a group together, go the range and learn everything about shotguns. Even Waco was legal right? And Elian? You know, I am pretty sure Koresh wasn’t training jihadis either. (sure thats sarcasm).

Let’s see, ex cons, guns... sounds like probable cause. I mean the PO has to visit right? (I would love to see if they have the same PO). Also, correct me if i’m wrong, taking pictures of license plates coming and going away from the compound, legal. (I just can’t stop the sarcasm... you know that would be ‘harassment’, followed by a court order, 500 ft., which in that area probably gives you a photo op anyway).

Wonder who the weapons are purchased from and why (if this is their residence), the Pennsylvania plates. Nevermind.

Yeah...

Heres the link to the threat story, also on CFP...

http://www.canadafreepress.com/2007/cover051507.htm

I have to say, that anyone remotely associated with this group in up state NY, that would threaten me or someone I know, knowing what fringes they themselves flirt with...

I’m not feeling very compassionate right now...

The most pathetic thing is that absolutely nothing will be done about this group...

And I would certainly love to be wrong about this too...

I am also not surprised to see “Mike Savage” all over this like white on rice...

I mean when you get right down to it...Somebody of lawful authority needs to take direct and public action to investigate this...

It is too obvious, and if that is what is being relied upon to deter lawful investigation and prosecution, then I say they should look very heavily into this...

Enough is enough...

I can almost hear Savage now...I catch his show on the way home sometimes in the afternoon...

Even though Jamaat ul-Fuqra has been involved in terror attacks and sundry criminal activities, recruited thousands of members from federal and state penal systems, and appears to be operating paramilitary facilities for militant Muslims, it remains to be placed on the official US Terror Watch List. On the contrary, it continues to operate, flourish, and expand as a legitimate nonprofit, tax-deductible charity.

How 'bout that?

Its about 30 miles N.E. of Scranton, PA. and 70 miles N.W. of NYC

Not that that means anything, but you know...Something operating with these undertones this close to Ground Zero, to me thats just begging for it...

If it were me, I would oblige them...

The locals say that some work as tollbooth operators for the New York State Thruway, while others are employed at a credit card processing center that maintains confidential financial records.

That's real comforting.
