Well...I know this decal idea isn’t perfect.

Two or more Mr. Magoo drivers driving side-by-side is called commuter hell.

And believe me...I have seen them before down on the I-5 in San Diego. Some of the South of the Border commuters with BC plates frequently drive this way. Maybe because they are from Mexico, they drive excessively slow to avoid tickets.

How about two Mr. Magoos driving side-by-side right in front of you, and neither will speed up, fall back or move over?

We have plenty of those in Austin. I call them "Self appointed citizen traffic control officers". When you do get past them, over 50% of the time, both are on a stupid cell phone and have no idea they are holding up traffic.

I think everyone should slow down to 55 miles per hour and stop burning fuel at a rate we all can’t afford. The savings in fuel would necessitate a drop in price.

Keep your cell phone handy, and call smoky to report an aggressive driver endangering other vehicles. Provide license plate number and identifying information.

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve gave the finger too after passing a left lane slow driver (on the right) and then literally tried to cut them off a little. Talk about road rage. It is so inconsiderate to be in the left lane and not do at least 5 mph over the speed limit. Selfish people. I hope you all get flat tires ....

Slow pokes in the left lane, a long time peeve of mine !

Last week, I did a trip from Colorado to Indiana. Missouri is the worst with a lot of left lane drivers not passing. I got into Illinois after St. Louis and there was this one "broad" who was poking along in the left lane talking on her phone. I decided to go around on the right because she was oblivious and she sped up. I ended up staying behind her and then she decided to move over finally. As I passed her, she was displaying her middle digit. I guess her phone conversation was more important than driving.

It would be nice the US-DOT/NHTSA do a campaign on lane courtesy but it would be a cold day in hell before they would promote this common sense idea.

People who don’t use the left lane only for passing are worse than the people who drive slow in the left lane.

I've heard it referred to as the "Denver slow lane" because so many drivers clog the left lane. I don't think that's rudeness so much as most people thinking, like the kids of Lake Wobegon, that they're all above average.

Generally, I make better time during the rush hour driving the right lane.

Increasingly it’s not the Magoos of the world that are causing the biggest problem, but distracted drivers on their cell phones or Blackberries or hunting for stations on their XM radios, utterly oblivious to what is going on around them.

There would be less lane changing and tailgating if fewer people drove slower than the flow of traffic in the left lane. When people come up behind you, move over (if you feel you must drive in the left lane in the first place). If you don’t move over, then people have to swerve around you.

In California it is the law that slower traffic keep right - regardless of the maximum speed law. The law states that traffic passing you on the right is prime facia evidence of a violation of this rule.

The CHP does not enforce this law. As a matter of fact, they act like it does not exist.

What I love is the two big-rigs side by side doing a slow-race up a hill. Gawd I hate truck drivers. They self-righteously reserve the “right” to go 20 MPH or 100 MPH at their leisure. They’re happy to screw up everybody’s commute instead of staying in the right lane and losing 4 MPH up a hill. They preach about not passing on the right but they’ll do it all day long.

55 Sux ! I blame a lot of this left lane banditing on the old 55 mph limit. It has been gone for 11 years, a bad idea when brought in 1974 and just as bad today !

I’ll begin by donning my asbestos suit and now state that in my travels I recognize the proponderance of left lane drivers is women. I have watched them enter the highway and make a virtual bee-line for the left lane and then begin to proceed at their own pace oblivious to the cavernous distance between themselves and the car in front of them.

In TX you’ll receive a ticket if you ride the left lane. It’s considered a passing only lane.
