LOL!
Bellydancing has an interesting history.
What most westerners think is arabic is really American. Little Egypt was really a US working girl(or girls) and the orginal dancers brought to America for the 1890 Worlds Fair were heavily dressed Ghawazi.
Those costumes? We invented, Badia Masabni took back in the Casino Opera.
Same goes for Veil dancing, heavy upper chest moves, “Harem Girls”, the jewel in the belly button etc.
A heck, just go to my web page and follow the links :)

Even the name “Belly dancing” was a Western invention.
It’s real name is Danse Oriental or Raks Sharki (the people’s dance)
Thanks for the brief history.
Truth is, when I was in the Navy in the 1980s I was deployed three time to the Persian Gulf and I NEVER saw any belly dancing in any of the countries I visited there.
I suppose that belly dancing is what America and the West wishes that the Middle East would be.
I have to say...after visiting your website, belly dancing is just pure clean American fun...
