Carbon credits may reduce only guilt

Carbon credits may reduce only guilt So far, offsets 'yield few if any environmental benefits' ......... How clean is your carbon credit?

Carbon credits are advertised as a way for polluters to offset the greenhouse gases they produce. ....... Worse, reports of fraud and abuse are piling up. Most recently, an investigation by The Financial Times found that companies and individuals "rushing to go green have been spending millions on 'carbon credit' projects that yield few if any environmental benefits."

This is an excerpt because the Seattle PI is reprinting a NY Times report. Looks like even the liberals are beginning to grasp that they're being taken to the cleaners by frauds like Algore.

This is such a lamebrained idea I can't believe anyone has bought into it. Seriously, you're "buying" against this imaginary carbon limit? As if we can just calculate how much is an OK amount of carbon to have, and you "buy credit" from that amount? (I know it's a rough illustration but you get the idea.) How silly--who decides what is an OK amount of pollution to create, so that they can pay off their guilt at polluting just as anyone else does?

I can't believe anyone who's seriously "green" buys into this scheme. Only charlatans like Al Gore--"Do as I say, not as I do"--could go for this snake oil.

Algore is selling the snake oil...he owns stock in the company he buys his credits from. He just moves money from one pocket to the other, and liberals are too dense to grasp it.

I have series guilt issues due to my only-ness. Anyone else, or is it only me?

In MD they have a place called Olney. They almost have guilt. Almost Olney only guilt. Good thing I'm around, or it would be only Olney.

The article says, "only charlitans like Al Gore...". Ah, so he is responsible! Maybe he will give me a discount on only offsets.

yeah, I know it's stupid. So is global warming. It's also 0420 and I'm fried from no sleep. I've only been awake, and I'm feeling guilty...

Not just carbon credits, the whole environmental movement is about assuaging guilt. When you are guilty you wouldn’t mind paying higher taxes knowing your money is being put to ‘good use’.

No, the liberals are beginning to grasp that in order for the concept of Carbon Credits to work, first they have to ration out Carbon Usage Rights.

For example, every person would be alloted x number of pounds of Carbon emissions, that must be presented every time you fill up your car. If you have any credits left over, you can sell them to someone else.

Then you have something tangible to barter.

This will be the 21st century's equivalent to the Catholic Church's Indulgences racket of centuries past. These scammers are trying to frenzy the market like the Dutch tulip bulb mania, and then walk away with the billions in ill gotten capital scot free. Evil evil people who are destroying the lives of billions and killing millions of third world people to follow their scheme to it's logical conclusion, complete collapse of the carbon trading market, and discrediting of anything and everything "global warming" related in the slightest.

Algore - Ignorant, stupid, or liar?

Ignorant means that someone does not know something. This could mean they did not have access to the truth. It’s not realisic to think that Algore has not had access to the truth. There is a great deal of information about the truth of “carbon credits” available.

Stupid means that someone does not have a reasoning ability. This can happen when someone is blinded by idealogy.

A liar is someone who says things they know are not true.

Algore - Ignorant, stupid, or liar?

Al takes a truth serum:

"The earths atmosphere is only made up of 0.0383% CO2 which you can literally call 'zero point zero'. On top of that, 2/3rds of the earth is covered with water of which contains algae and other life forms that suck up CO2. Add on top of that all the plant life that that covers almost all of the land on earth that sucks up CO2. So as you see, all this talk by me saying that man made CO2 emissions will destroy the earth is complete and utter bullsh*t."

In actuality, its worse than that.

He is the chairman of the board of a company that (as an employee benefit) purchases carbon credits for the board members (maybe all employees, I’m not sure).

Therefore, he owns stock in a company, that buys carbon credits for him.

I call this a distinction because if he bought the credits from himself, then 100% of the money would (theoretically) go into a company, then distributed in the pockets of all shareholders. This is the reverse of that. $$ comes from 100% of the shareholders (or investors), and benefits him.

I’m planting a couple of trees and sprucing up the yard this year. Can I pick up a standard Carbon Credit Form at my local Home Depot....I’ll be sure to include the receipt and any bar codes necessary to get my “credit”.

The hubby’s looking at coveted John Deere lawn mower (gas guzzler model) and the credit would go a long way to fulfill his dreams. He even promises to sell the grass cuttings to help develop green fuel to fill up the Hummer.

Actually, the Senate, or more specifically Byrd and Hagel, killed Kyoto ratification 95-0 in 1997.

From Wiki:

On July 25, 1997, before the Kyoto Protocol was finalized (although it had been fully negotiated, and a penultimate draft was finished), the U.S. Senate unanimously passed by a 95–0 vote the Byrd-Hagel Resolution (S. Res. 98), which stated the sense of the Senate was that the United States should not be a signatory to any protocol that did not include binding targets and timetables for developing as well as industrialized nations or "would result in serious harm to the economy of the United States". On November 12, 1998, Vice President Al Gore symbolically signed the protocol. Both Gore and Senator Joseph Lieberman indicated that the protocol would not be acted upon in the Senate until there was participation by the developing nations. The Clinton Administration never submitted the protocol to the Senate for ratification.

The reason the ‘really green’ folks buy into this is simple. It sets the precedent for ‘carbon credits’ on a mandatory world wide scale.

Essentially, the goal is to set a cap on carbon emissions world wide. This cap would then be allocated on a per capita basis. Ultimately, this would lead to a massive transfer of wealth between the developed and undeveloped world and a leveling of living standards at a much lower level than that we currently enjoy in the developed world.

Each year the cap would decrease until we all live in the utopian ‘green world’.

I have a very special deal going for guilty-minded environmentalists.

This is a picture of a white cedar tree growing on my property which I will KILL unless you buy the carbon offsets from me!

So this isn't just about some anonymous carbon credits anymore, this has just become personal!

Just look at this magnificent, mature white cedar! This year it's trunk's girth will exceed 8 inches, meaning... THE TIMBER COMPANY WANTS IT!

Sooooooooooo..... this is kind of all up to you.

This wonderful tree can spend the next decade scrubbing the enviro-toxins out of the air because YOU saved it, or it can wind up as plywood by July!

I'm serious. I've done this before. Don't call the police or FBI.

You know what amazes me, is the types of people who buy into this global warming hoax. From NYC Mayors, Senators, Professors all these people who are so-called highly educated. Yet none of them have taken the time to look how ridiculous the evidence is. They all take some wackos word for it. And for this they are willing to destroy entire economies.

Al Gore has literally convinced them that CO2 is like cyanide gas, that it`s some kind of “poison”. It`s just absolutely, utterly, mind boggling, incredible that anybody takes this bonafide psychopath seriously on anything! I swear, if Al Gore declared tomorrow that all the water in the sea is getting flushed down a giant toilet bowl, half the world would believe him!

Hey there, Prof, I didn't say I wanted that scheme, I said the Liberals are working their way towards that sort of scheme if left unimpeded.

First step is to show that there is a "genuine" desire to do the "right" thing and purchase Carbon Offsets. The second step is to show that Carbon Offsets are meaningless unless they are issued and regulated by the Government. Third Step is the issuance of Carbon Credits to individuals and businesses, and require that the appropriate amount of Carbon Credits be exchanged for any Carbon fuel purchase.

Predicting the course of events will allow us to stop it before it goes too far.
