Hagel Says Independent Bid For Prez Is Possible
Nebraska State Paper ^ | May 04, 2007

Posted on 05/04/2007 7:40:34 PM PDT by Clintonfatigued

The Leavenworth Street political blog took note today of a story by Bloomberg News, reporting that Senator Chuck Hagel declined to rule out a bid for president as an Independent candidate, and even said such a bid is possible.

Interesting story.

Hagel didnt say he would make such a bid, just that (like almost everything else) he would not rule it out.

Here is the story, as reported by Leavenworth Street.

According to a Bloomberg News article, Nebraska Senator Chuck Hagel said he would consider running for President as an Independent:

An independent bid "is possible," Hagel, 60, said in an interview with Bloomberg Television's Political Capital with Al Hunt. "I don't ever foreclose any options."

Running as in Ind. Hagel would siphon even fewer votes from the GOP candidate as Pat Buchanan did in his last bid.

A negligible amount, that is.

Pat Buchanan was ignored by the MSM. There is no guarantee that Hagel would be.

Good for Hagel. He’ll split the moonbat vote and give Thompson an even bigger margin of victory. Conservatives aren’t going to vote for him.

BS. Hagel is a non-entity with little national name recognition.

This site frowns on the use of certain words for a (bleep) like Hagel, so I’ll have to be content with (expletives deleted).

Hagel’s ego is a comedy act all in itself.

Problem is, Hagel may get a lot of adoring press, as the DC Press Corps sees him as what McCain used to be. Also, they want the Democrats to win the White House, and may give Hagel coverage to split the Republican vote.

Actually, what's interesting here is that the story is sourced by Bloomberg News.

And the owner of Bloomberg News, one Michael Bloomberg, the mayor of NYC, had dinner with Hagel in a Washington restaurant night before last.

Bloomberg, a very wealthy man, has entertained notions of running for President as an independent, as well.

Bloomberg and Hegel are both RINOs who probably see eye-to-eye on many issues. An independent ticket of Bloomberg-Hagel may well be forming (Bloomberg would head the ticket, since it would be his money).

Such a ticket wouldn't draw squat from Republican voters, but could be very attractive to sane Democrats.

I definitely encourage Big Mike and The Chuckster to run.
