If Rosie O'Donnell was a business pitch right now, she'd be a win-win. The opinionated diva who quit her job as co-host of "The View" last week is a TV maestro who could mean big bucks for the next studio that signs her up, TV industry experts say.
"She's the only talent I've ever worked with who thinks like a producer," said a former co-worker.
As early as last winter, O'Donnell began holding talks with at least one major studio about producing a new talk show, according to industry sources. On her personal Web site Rosie admitted this week that she has thought about hosting an issues-oriented show with audience participation, a la Phil Donahue.
Also, "Late night interests me," O'Donnell wrote.
On "The View," Rosie's unpredictable nature kicked the show's ratings up about 18 percent since last year and moved it to fifth place among daytime talk shows, from its longtime 10th place perch.
The jump translated into about a 15 percent ad-rate increase - a shift that contributed millions to the show's bottom line, says an ABC staffer.
"That's big," said Mediaweek's Marc Berman. "Especially when you consider that nine out of 10 daytime shows are down in the ratings."
All of that came because of, or despite, Rosie's various feuds, ranging from public spats with Donald Trump and Asian-American organizations to conspiracy-theory talk about 9/11.
"I would say that Rosie clearly helped electrify 'The View' and has positioned herself nicely to enter into discussions with several syndicators," said John Rash of media-buying firm Campbell Mithun.

Well, you know what they say: Capitalism — love it or leave it.
The girl’s a money machine. Funny thing is, I’ve never even seen The View. I don’t know anyone who watches The View. I never even heard of The View until it was brought to my attention by news pundits. Now I find out it’s been on the air for five years?!
Who’s watching this show? Does anyone here watch The View?

No one is forced to watch. I sure don’t. I think you overestimate the ability of marketing to get people doing things they otherwise wouldn’t. Neither do I think any amount of televised chattering can make a homosexual out of a hetero. You mileage may vary, though.
It just shows how deep we have sunk as a society to have someone like O’Donnell make the news.

Now, Rosie, are you going to go on The View tomorrow ...and contest that incident...and say our Administration placed bombs in the girders of the bridge, and hired that truckdriver (who escaped, luckily) to wreck into the underpass?

They can say it - BUT - the fact is, her magazine tanked, her talk show tanked, and she was an irritant on The View. The Donald is right. She’s a loser. Then again, lots of people fail upwards in Hollywood.
Well .. why wouldn’t the ratings go up .. all those liberals on welfare sitting in front of their TV’s joining in her rants against the “establishment”.

The firing of Imus raised the specter of the bigotry running the networks, now this fawning over the despicable pig leftist Rosie proves the leadership at the networks care not a whit about morality, the nation’s state of political division or the spewing of idiotic conspiracy crap like heat and steel and 9/11. Of course...because of who pays the bills. Rosie's a daytime diva, and the PAYING sponsors will monitor the demographics hard and fast ("hard and fast" being things that the pig has never experienced), and determine that they'd rather continue selling Tide, etc.....

Nope...I watch The Price is Right if I’m at home at that time (which for all of their talk of ratings increases, the View is still way behind that show - Bob Barker kicks their behind...this is his last season, though, so we’ll have to see if that show can hold up without him).
Sleeping Beauty, Tom Thumb, and Quasimodo were all talking one day.
