“A mature person, if they are one-upped, exhibit more grace than that. But we live and learn, hopefully.”

No, obviously, I don’t think you do.

I know that I have loved our military since I've been a child....both parents inspired that because they both were vets.....

but honestly, I see so many men of little character showing up as generals ....one thing I remember from my hubby's military time is that the military is VERY politically driven.....its who you know and when you know them and its who's going to scratch who's back...

these retired generals and their pensions and connections and opportunities ......one would think they would be more supportive of their fellow military and their government...

This guy claims not to be a Republican or a Democrat. His solution sounds like every other liberal I've heard including the cut and run article.

” USSR collapsed because we had a President committed to seeing them destroyed”

“And that president hired Odom.”

According to the Hewitt interview, Odom worked for Carter.

“What’s the alternative? We stay there forever?”

Is that hyperbole or hysteria?

What is the measure of war? For some, it seems to be time. This makes sense to the immature, the impatient, those with ADD.

I think a much better, albeit incomplete, measure is the lives of Americans lost. We lost 3 thousand on September 11th. That was the Carter, Clinton, Odom way of waiting for problems to fix themselves. Since then, we’ve lost another 3 thousand while taking the war to the enemy in an effort to achieve victory. Had we done nothing, we probably would have lost more.

Comparing wars, this shooting war with its 3 thousand casualties is way better than WWII that cost us 400 thousand soldiers. The key thing is to win the war. If it takes one hundred years and we lose 100 thousand soldiers, it will still be better than WWII which cost us 400 thousand soldiers. But it will only take 100 years if the Democrats periodically raise the white flag.

“Pelosi’s General, how embarrassing for him, lol.”

Yes. That is funny when you put it that way.

Odom strike me as a technician. A wonk. A high level bureaucrat. There is an air of displeasure with untidiness with Odom. Frankly, he’s doesn’t strike me as a innovator, a risk-taker. He’s not Patton. Everything he expresses is one of accepting the world as it is and, at best, adjusting to changes as they occur. In other words, he not a type that makes a new reality. He’s kind of a small man in a way. Not at all inspiring. His comments are snipes. He constantly falls back upon the phrase “National Security”. Like it is some mantra.

Anyways, he doesn’t run the show, hasn’t ever been elected dog catcher.

As to being bogged down, it all depends upon when you start the clock. Many people say we have been ‘bogged down’ since the end of WWII. For the Brits and French, since the mid 1800’s. Also, it is not as if we left tomorrow, we wouldn’t be ‘bogged down’ into the foreseeable future. Lastly, and no disrespect to the efforts of many so far, the cost, effort on an nation our size and wealth has been minuscule by any measure.

Nobody seems to be asking our troops what they want. It is clear that our soldiers morale is high and they want to finish their mission.

They don't need their mission destroyed by a bunch of political demagoguing socialist hacks with an agenda.

Give a man enough rope. In Odom’s case, he hangs himself. Iran with nukes. Now that’s a solution! Take the Palestian side, peachy!

The only evil that leftists will contemplate are evil Republicans. It does not matter how many innocent people are murdered by communists or Jihadists, they just cannot believe in evil outside of the United States.

In the Hewitt interview, Hugh could not even get him to take Churchill’s side against Hitler. Odom replies that the problems were set at the end of WWI. Perhaps. But at some point that becomes history and irrelevant to current decisions. It seems clear that Odom would not have confronted Hitler, ever.

It seems like the vast majority of the troops do support this war. And that is saying something since are the ones who are fighting it. Here is a video from the troops that gets at one aspect of the war.

Someone at FreeRepublic posted this video. Thank goodness for FreeRepublic.com

Great video with good interviews of our troops

Shamefully the left has no concept of why our soldiers are in Iraq along with needing basic comprehension skills necessary to understand the rebuilding of Iraq after the fall of a brutal tyrant. This video makes it clear if we left what kind of humanitarian crisis would ensue.

If the left were capable of focusing more on this type of evidence maybe this time around they wont have embarrassment once again waking up on the wrong side of history.

The Democrats need to stop their campaign of investing in failure. Why do they ignore translated Docex documents out of Iraq that clearly had shown Saddams connections to terror including current insurgencies in Iraq and with worldwide terrorists. Are they really that blind or just stupid.

The left never learned their lesson after 4 million people were slaughtered running from the communists in Vietnam, Laos and also Cambodians from the Khmer Rouge. Actually they were more proud that they brought America to its knees. If history repeats itself and this happens once again in Iraq I will pray that the same Democrats and liberals rot in hell.
