All firearms would be seized. The owners of weapons found in the searches would be prosecuted: $1,000 and one year in prison for each firearm. Clearly, since such sweeps could not take place all across the country at the same time. But fairly quickly there would begin to be gun-swept, gun-free areas where there should be no firearms. If there were, those carrying them would be subject to quick confiscation and prosecution. On the streets it would be a question of stop-and-search of anyone, even grandma with her walker, with the same penalties for "carrying."

Simpson appears to be quite serious, or maybe he is just trying to illustrate what it would take to actually "ban guns" as many liberals and other control freaks so blithely demand. Even the most intrusive search could not find all the guns or ammunition and many of those that were not found would be used against the totalitarian authorities and media shills who had instigated the inquisition in the first place.

This guy is high on crack or meth. This is pure fantasy because he fails to account for how many law enforcemnt officers would actually do this and how many would be killed trying. He also fails to mention how they would address taking guns from protected classes of people.....ie everyone except white men. Finally he does not address how we would get to that situation in the first place, how the Congress, state legislatures or courts would allow such a thing to happen.
I have a better idea. Take his whole article and delete the word “gun” and insert the word “liberal” and now you have a good cause and millions ready to participate in the round up.

Further, I'm sure there are patriots out there making a list similar to the Koko's of "people who won't be missed" for when the stuff hits the fan. I'd guess that this jerk just got added to a couple of lists.
I don't want to give them any ideas, so I hope they aren't listening: But, if I was out to confiscate guns, I'd start by selecting activist judges and legislating from the bench, at all court levels. I'd also try to get huge blocks of voters to keep me and my gun-grabbing buddies in power - like unions, like those that bow to the great religions (aka, Global Warming god, PBUH). And then, I'd just ignore chunks of the Constitution as well as amendments to the Constitution.
I guess that's how I'd go about it, but that's just me...
I on the other hand will try very hard to end anyone who would take part in this from the JBT's and their bosses to the media covering it to filth like Simpson. Germany lost the Battle of Britain because it switched from tactical targets - airfields - to strategic targets - London.

Dan is advocating Nazi tactics where specific groups of people are demonized, rounded up and thrown in prison. Although people in certain areas would meekly submit, such as shown in New Orleans, I doubt that attitude would carry over to other areas of the country.

I question whether they could find enough law enforcement or military personnel willing to carry out such a program on a broad scale. They’d have to enlist proto-fascists like the more psychotic and violent DUmmies to get it done.
I cited NOLA and the DC Sniper examples above (where firearms were indeed seized in clear violation of Constitutional rights), but those were limited in scope and were shut down pretty quickly.
In NOLA, they got Granny’s 38 revolover, but even that was an embarrassing televised struggle with a 75-year old woman, and they never quite made it to a showdown with the seriously armed homeowner defense groups that sprung up all around the city. I think the results in those neigborhoods might have been less successful than in Granny’s kitchen.
So in the end who can imagine Dan Simpson and his leftist DUmmie ilk showing up at their doorstep in full battle SWAT rattle with Code Pink and PETA T-shirts underneath, pressing people at gunpoint to submit to an unwarranted search and seizure of their legal firearms? That dog don’t hunt.
I would be surprised big time if a vast majority in NYC or Boston didn't think this was a great idea. I was at a patriots day celebration in Concord in '96 or '97 (forgot exactly when) and there was a display of little die cast or maybe plastic toy muskets (about 3 inches long) in a store I was in and a little boy asked his mother for one. Not only did she not buy him one, but gave him a really nasty dressing down to the effect that guns were bad and he should never touch one.
As I remember there was an anti-gun billboard at the end of the Mass pike just as you came into Boston. I remember thinking how far these people have degenerated since 1776.

When I go to the NRA firing range in Fairfax, there are always plenty of LEOs and federal agents practicing there. Several of the NRA CCH (and other) instructors are active police officers.
It seems improbable to me that any tyrant could find enough LEOs and/or military personnel to execute such an egregiously unconstitutional program. And it seems preposterous that it would work in towns and cities with large military populations.
Your idea sounds a whole lot better to me. Shaking my head again...

They'd find a few. A few years back some kids were shooting their dads pellet rifle in their back yard when one came through my window and nailed me just above the liver.
I called the cops, that's another story in itself, but when the boys in blue finally actually entered my house the Sgt in charge looked at my gun safe and said "I'd take everyone of these right now if I could."
I told him that's just what he'd have to do because I sure as hell wouldn't just give them to him.
The beat guys were alright about it. Once I calmed down a couple of them told me they thought he was an asshole, too.
He retired from the force soon after that and became a divorce lawyer. Go figure.
But I have a feeling the ones who would be all gung ho would see their ranks depleted pretty quickly. Line cops would lose their enthusiasm after that.

One of the most memorable events from NOLA was the video of a 75-yeat old grandma getting into a physical struggle with the SWAT team trying to seize her little revolver. That was the beginning and the end of the NOLA seizure program.
My thoughts exactly. My ‘liberal’ neighbors have knocked on my door when they thought they saw a bear in their backyard (we live next to the Dismal Swamp in SE Virginia). Turned out to be a large possum, but just illustrates that guns can be your friends esp. when you’re scared. Lock and load.

He just doesn't view it the same way we do - as the the evil Nazis crushing the resistance of the heroic jews. In his viewpoint, the Nazis were the good guys. They were the lawful government, and the jews were criminals resisting lawful authority. The only losses this guy would regret in his modern day gun owner as jew scenario would be losses to their beloved police.
And I think that there would be considerable losses. Gun owners would just cower in their homes waiting for the door to get kicked down. I think all sorts of ambushes and ieds would start cropping up. And the score settling that he mentions in his piece of filth editorial? I think there are people in his area who would settle his. So the jerk better pray that his nazi dream of America doesn't come true, and he can continue to vent his fear and hatred of freedom from his nice comfortable position.
