“...Hershey is looking to shift more manufacturing to India, China, Mexico...”

So now there is no reason to buy Hershey bars because Swiss Chocolate is just as American.

And why have Zagnut bars become so hard to find?

Candy stores rarely stock Zagnut, since it has only a niche market. Most Zagnuts are sold online.

The plant in Pittsburgh where they were made closed about 10 years ago. Some other company bought the brand, but it's been a while since I have seen them too. I don't know if, or how widely they are marketed now.

I do know that with the high US sugar tariffs, it's tough for domestic candy makers to compete on the world market.

Because it's a rotten candy bar ---has little sales.

Great question. Had no problem finding them in KY, but we’ve lived in CA or NC for the last 10 years and we can’t find Zagnuts anywhere. Cracker Barrel has something similar, but it’s just not the same.
