Well when I said “larger calibers” I meant “larger than a 45 ACP”. Recoil on a 44 mag and 50 can be a little distracting.

It [the 9mm] had glamour; cinematographers fell in love with the automatic's sleek, sinister profile, in contrast to the almost feminine bulge of the revolver. Feminine bulge? Tell that to Dirty Harry.

Thanks for the suggestion. What are the 1911 difficulties?

They bought them as many as 25 at a time from the accommodating owner of the Hole in the Wall Gun Shop, James Dillard. As required by Ohio law, the buyers duly attested that the guns were for their personal use, which was good enough for Dillard. In such a case, Mr. Dillard would have filled out the required ATF Form 3310.4, and submitted it THAT DAY to the National Tracing Center and the CLEO of his jurisdiction.
What action those entities took upon learning of this (and presumably other similar) multiple sale is not reported.

I was thinking about carting out my old CZ-52 for a range workout. $89 when I bought it 2 or three years ago - I think you can get one for about $125 now.
The ammo is dirt cheap, and the thing packs a whollop.

The 9mm originated in Europe, so it must be bad.

About 60 percent of the firearms in use by police are 9mms, many of them Glocks,99% positive this is not true; .40 S&W has replaced 9x19 as the LEA caliber of choice and owns the majority stake nationwide.

Glock mod. 22 (.40 cal) solves the problem with 9MMs.

I always favor more than less... I present to you the Para Ordnance 14-45....It's got everything a liberal can hate...high caliber and high capacity...
makes me just giggle.

I just bought a XD9 subcompact a couple days ago. Went directly from the gunshop to the range. What a great tool for self defense and a little bit of fun too.

It’s a big piece of unwieldy iron. It was designed with 1911 ergonomics. GIs who had the things thought they couldn’t hit the side of a barn with them, but there was always a sergeant who practiced with it who could hit man sized targets at 50 years and he’d do the demos.
I love mine, but when I take it to the range after not shooting it for 6 months my first few shots aren’t even on the paper.

The Model 20 is my favorite - the 10mm ballistics are close to a .41 magnum, and the thing is manageable.

Disagree, the 1911 is much easier than most pistols to hit with because it has a good trigger.
The only fly on the 1911 is that basic maintenance is more involved than more recent designs. Not to the point of being genuinely difficult, just more complicated.

I’ll still take my Sig Pro as my “best” gun.

I think the 10 MM will become an orphan load...like the .41. It will still be available but not in the varieties that .40 and 9 MM are now.

IMHO, John Browning got it just about perfect with the 1911. There's a reason that so many special ops and police outfits are switching back to the 1911 platform.

Love my 19 too. Works well, accurate, cleans in a jiffy. However, I’ve noticed some accuracy problems with the hi-cap magazine. That might just be me though - can’t handle a 32-round mag extending beyond the end of the grip.

I think the 10 MM will become an orphan load...like the .41. I agree, and it's too bad, I think they succeeded with the 10mm what they were trying to do with the .41 mag.
Buy reloading equipment!
