At the annual dinner, White House Correspondents' Association president Steve Scully served as master of ceremonies. President Bush made a humorous after-dinner presentation and impressionist Rich Little performed.

How I wish Zelig and I could be with our DC FReeper FRiends in DC at the bar below (?) this dinner right now. We were supposed to be there tonight, but have been forced to spend the weekend (and probably next week) dealing with our flooded basement, courtesy of the recent nor'easter in Connecticut... :-(
Didn't they run this dinner LIVE on C-SPAN last year? We're apparently getting a tape delay of "earlier events" on C-SPAN....
I was disappointed CSPAN didn’t cover the pre-show.

Ugh - David Geffen just walked in. Invited by Newsweek. There is Greta. I can’t watch much of this.
I get so tired of these dinners. The President, whomever he happens to be, seems to feel obligated to go yuck it up with a lot of people who despise him. The humour is usually inappropriate. I suppose it is to prove that the President is “just like everyone else.” I remember, I think, Bill Clinton making jokes about the loss of national secrets at Los Alamos. And I seem to recall Laura Bush and Lynn Cheney making some rather off-color jokes at one of these dinners too.
Is there a holdup in the start of this?

Whoever is supervising the coverage of the WHCA Dinner “Red Carpet” segment is obviously a very young, clueless celebrity-worshipper. Focusing exclusively on actors and actresses, BET stars (who I never heard of), American Idol stars (who I’ve never heard of) and not mentioning notable political and media figures who are walking by these style over substance celebrities...
Sheesh - this is more of a Hollyweird premiere scenario than a WH correspondents’ dinner - we’re seeing mostly hasbeen or never-was actors!
