Is this what we're fighting against?

"people have been warned by these insurgents…some terrorists knocked on their door… a car bomb detonated in a Christian area"

Yes, this is who we're fighting: 'insurgents', terrorists, car bombers. Our brave military sent by us to fight the islamic terrorists is precisely what must be done. These are our enemies over there. And they wish to do the same over here.

That's who, and why, we are fighting them over there.

That’s right, we are sacrificing life and treasure to stop two rival Islamic sects from killing each other, yet if they had the chance they would kill us. What ever government ends up in power, they, like every other Islamic society will treat Christians as second class citizens. To think we are going to social engineer Iraq into a peaceful democracy is insane.

“WORLD NUT DAILY?”

that’s about as lame as it gets...

“Is there any truth to it? Maybe?”

If you don’t believe there are MASS atrocities being committed by Muslims against Christians & Jews throughout the Middle East daily; you are either the dumbest or the most naive person on the planet.

But then you giving more “trust” to the NYT over WND speaks volumes for your lack of good judgment.

You are being paged over at the DU. LMAO

And before I leave you to your ignorance,
these authors might take exception to your characterization of WND as “WORLD NUT DAILY” and your giving more credibility to the NYT than to WND.

What are you talking about?

Religious persecution is nothing new in Iraq.

Saddam killed his own citizens everyday but that’s old news.

Scores of people were purged but its not important now.

We only hear about the 100 Iraqi deaths that happen today since the Coalition Forces been there.

And Iraqi Christians are fleeing their home since March 2003?????

That’s the important news to enforce your “Bush’s worst decision.”

That’s illogical. You can blame Saddam alone for psychologically traumatizing his own people. It will take 30 years or more for the Iraqi citizens to recover from this despot craziness. The recent bombing deaths is nothing new to these people.....its just a quicker way to die compared what Saddam dished out everyday.

Remember...

Religious miniorities in that area were tolerated by those in power if they helped to keep despots in power.

It was a unholy alliance.

Saddam protected Iraqi Christians just like the Iranian Shah protected people in Baha’i faith. Both despots gave these groups good educations, gave them fancy government jobs but expected loyality from them.

Iraqi Christians wanted the UN sanctions to be lifted not out of religious conviction but because Saddam order them to.

What would happen if they objected Saddam’s demands?

When the Despots lost their power the persecution of religious minorities rekindled because they supported the dictators.

Many had to flee their homeland.

It’s nothing new.

Don’t worry Saddam did his share dumping on Christians who didn’t tow his line.

Islam spread largely through conquest. Children of Muslim fathers and non-Muslim mothers became Muslims, and Christians and practitioners of older religions were pressured to convert to Islam.

Iraq, Syria, Lebanon, Israel, and Egypt were all primarily Christian from the time of the Roman Empire, but were conquered by Arab and Islamic armies.

The situation non-Muslims faced also occurred in many Christian countries. Jews were treated in similarly in Christian countries as Muslim countries, as far as paying extra taxes and not being allowed to do certain things. I Great Britain, those who did not conform to the Church of England were under all sorts of restrictions, and this included Ireland, where almost everyone was Catholic. It is true that Catholic Spain became Muslim Spain, but after the reconquest, Islam, Judiasm and protestantism were brutally repressed by the Inquisition.

The situation in Iraq now is very chaotic, as the US occupiers and the official Iraqi government do not entirely control the country.

There was an article in Zenit today about this. Zenith is a Vatican e-newsletter (I get the Spanish version, Zenit, which sometimes has different info).

In any case, it appears that throughout Iraq, Christians are being forced to remove their crosses, not make any “Christian gestures” (I assume this means blessing themselves), and are under threat.

There is an old Christian library that the US troops have occupied and some of the Christians want the troops out because they can’t use it at present, but the problem is that as soon as they go, the Muslims will destroy it.

I don’t think we had any plans for this. I support the idea of trying to destroy a terror base and create a decent secular country there, but I think we were very naive about Islam and about Muslims. Unfortunately, the Christians are suffering for this now.

Look, Kelly, don't go crazy on us. If Bin Laden had nuked us last year, or if some universal world religion conspiracy had come to fruition, then old Joe Farah would have some cred.

That's not to say anything negative about articles from legitimate authors he posts on his site. But, sorry, only Debka has less overall credibility than World Nut Daily.

I pinged some other people, maybe they will beat me up too for stating a negative opinion on WND. Or not?!

WND basically reprints stuff from other sources and puts alarming headlines on it. However, this is true. See my post above.

No, it was going on under Saddam, too, although he was more focused. But the point here is that now this is widespread, extends to all Christian groups, and is unacknowledged by the media. And in fact it appears we aren’t doing much to stop it, either.

Nothing but snide personal attacks and goofy strawmen out of you. What was that you posted for someone else? ‘Read them, learn them & abide by them.

“Shut our borders and stop immigration. If they cannot get here, ends the problem.”

Isolationism of America is what the enemies are trying to achive as well, just like in WWII.
