Rudy is the new straight talker. No doubt about it.
From the NY Post:
Giuliani made his sharpest case for moving beyond social issues this weekend in Iowa, telling The Des Moines Register, Our party is going to grow, and we are going to win in 2008 if we are a party characterized by what were for, not if were a party thats known for what were against.
Asked about abortion, he said, Our party has to get beyond issues like that.
The GOP and the modern conservative movement have always prided themselves on being the idea people.
Rudy wants to regain that and capture the nations imagination.
Good for him, but easier said than done.
Hes going to have a tough time convincing the social issues voters that he wont abandon their fight to overturn Roe v. Wade.
I guess well see if his tune is the same come January of next year.
Our party has to “get beyond Rudy” - who is a social liberal.
But eventually they will.
Rudy needs to STFU or go toe to toe with Fred Dalton Thompson and Thompson can shut him the hell up.
Guiliani would not know the truth if it came up and bit him in the ass.
Fred in 08!!!
I'm starting to think even Rudy has no idea where he stands on many issues.
Rudy wants to regain surrender that and capture the nations imagination.
[VOMIT]
that pesky matter of abortion is a real fly in the ointment for rudy, of course he wishes we could all MOVE ON from it.
If we really want to "grow" we need to get beyond even more issues like the Second Amendment, taxes, smaller government, the war on terror etc. Let's just tear up our platform entirely so we can "get beyond" all those nasty, messy "issues".
Rino Rudy is all over the map on abortion. I seriously doubt he knows where he stands.
What is this “Donklephant” source, Meg88? As for RUDE-e-e-e, he can go jump in the lake at Central Park along with Bloomberg, Shumer, Hildabeaste, Nadler and the rest of N.Y.’s collection of gun-grabbing-partial-abortion-backing kooks. I’ll take McCain anyday!
Rudy is a pandering flip-flopper, just like every other liberal!
Looks like Rudy is going to tell primary voters that the war on terror issue trumps all.
yeah Rudy, let’s just move beyond all of the issues that make us distinct from the Rats.
Read this link. It will do your heart some good. LOL
Its good his talkins’straight, because his wardrobe sure ain’t.
And Pro-Life forms a part of the bedrock of the GOP, though moral relativism on the part of the RINO’s is trying ot erode it.
There really are pro-choice (read abortion defenders) republican posters who are members of freerepublic. Several come to mind immediately and every one of them seems to think Rudy will remove abortion as an issue from the political scene just as they want done ... which is what Rudy seems hell-bent to do when he denigrates the issue as something we conservatives will have to learn to ignore.
What else can one say except the words ‘stay home’.
"Shut up and vote for me!", Rudy explained to the right.
Tell it to the babies.
Giuliani is a Democrat as far as I can tell.
Depends upon which version of Rudy. For example, on fiscal matters, you have first-term Rudy and second-term Rudy:

For partial birth abortion, you have Mayor Rudy supporting Clinton's veto of a PBA ban. You have presidential candidate Rudy v1.0 saying he would support a PBA ban that had provisisions for the life of the mother. And you have presidential candidate Rudy v1.1 supporting SCOTUS upholding the ban even though it had no provision for the life of the mother.
Oh.... I don't know. Most Republicans understand liberals (Progressive/Marxists) quite well.
Rudy is every bit as disingenous as the other candidate from New York.
That said, Rudy had a remark on Iraq that made me sick. It was to the effect of "whether we win or not in Iraq we still will have to fight the WOT". That statement is submoronic. The war is Iraq and success in Iraq is directly linked to victory in the WOT. That is it.
His stance on the 2nd amendment of the constitution vs. his remarks that abortion, being a right should be gov't funded certainly doesn't jive.
Our party has to get beyond issues like that.”
In otherwords he is saying our party has to get beyond being a conservative party and become the second liberal party.
OK, let's legalize mass killings on college campuses as well. Then they will stop happening . . . just as soon as the killers all have a change of heart.
Then the vote will in all likelihood be Rudy v Hillary; and on Life Marriage RKBA etc. they are essentially the same.
PLEASE RUN FRED!
I’ve been waiting for a written reply. Looks like I’m going to have to start calling, to make the ‘squeaky wheel’ move.
Wow! Genius.
Rudy is about a much a straight talker as I am a ballerina.
He’s a flippin liar.
Thank you both for the pings.
ALL the polls are PRIOR to the candidate debates.
Mayor Guilliani has GOOD name recognition across America for his post 9/11 leadership and he’s well liked. I like him, but that’s not to say that everyone who likes him, will vote for him in the primaries. I won’t!
Let the debates commence and then let’s watch the polls AFTER voters are paying attention to the issues.
We’ve had news today that many of us have been praying for from our FIVE ROMAN CATHOLIC Supreme Court Justices!!!
This is a day for thanks to God and (for me) to President Bush and to Justices Roberts, Alito, Scalia, Thomas and Kennedy!!!
Whassamatter, Meg, afraid to reveal what state you’re from?
May I guess?
Why not? It's the only arrow in his quiver.
I could not have said that better myself!
Even Romney could tell him off. I accept converts to the pro life cause. We need them to win.
That’s right, Rudy - let the babies die at the whim of selfish people!
true dat.....lol
Every time someone states Fred’s middle name it makes me think of “Roadhouse”. And that is the way it will be if Fred enters the race “CLEAN HOUSE”.
Go Fred!

The Supreme Court reached the correct conclusion in upholding the congressional ban on partial birth abortion, Giuliani said in a statement on the 54 decision. I agree with it.
bingo,that is why i include it.......hehehe
( I thought you would be bigger)
