A summer cruise for gay and lesbian families organized by Rosie O'Donnell has cut Bermuda from its planned itinerary because of possible protests by church groups in the British island territory.
O'Donnell's charter company said it wanted to avoid the type of protests that greeted passengers when one of its cruises stopped in Nassau, Bahamas, in 2004.
The tour is scheduled to leave New York in July on a ship owned by Miami-based Norwegian Cruise Line. But the charter company, R Family Vacations, said on its Web site that it would replace the Bermuda stop with two other ports of call in Florida.
In the statement, the company said Bermuda's prime minister had assured them they would be welcome as tourists and they had also received hundreds of supportive e-mails from people who live in the wealthy British enclave.
Still, organizers felt they could not be certain there would be no protesters greeting them upon arrival. "We feel that our cruise would be more enjoyable with an alternate itinerary to ports where we know we are welcome by everyone."
In 2004, about 100 protesters chanting anti-gay slogans met one of the company's cruises when it arrived in Nassau, Bahamas, with about 1,150 passengers.
O'Donnell, 45, is a co-host on ABC's "The View."
R Family Vacations has offices in Nyack, N.Y. It was founded by Gregg Kaminsky and Kelli O'Donnell, partner of the talk-show host.

Just when you think the sleaze cannot get any deeper....
So long as they don't sing "Yo HO HO anna bottle of rum", nobody will get fired.
They can sail to Boston, where same sex marriage is legal. Why do they feel the need to generate all this publicity, and have this cruise, and go places where they may not be welcome?
Let her and everyone just live their life but, Rosie, don’t get in our face about it.
So the PC cry is "Yee-hee-hee and a bottle of rum?"
That’s one cruise that there is pretty much 0% chance of any babies resulting 9 months later.
Note that her “partner” shares her last name...or is that merely a coincidence?
Did you hear what Rosie said today about President Bush? That it took him only a day to go to Blacksburg, but a week to go to New Orleans after “Katrina”? Good Lord.
You remember that storm, don’t you? The nation’s first black hurricane, controlled by President Bush and Karl Rove.
BTW, has President Bush been blamed yet for the shooting at VA Tech?
Sweepers MAN your brooms.
Trice up the monkey's fist.
Air bedding and scuttlebutt.
Cheney’s to blame for this one.
The rotund one should seek professional help....licketysplit!
Citizens of the different Caribbean nations and outlying areas do not generally accept gay people.
Yeah Rosie, well NOLA was kind of destroyed and Blacksburg was within driving distance.
They should change the stopover to 3-4 ports in the middle east. Then they would see protests. But they won’t. They want to be able to criticize Christians!
In Bermuda, it is illegal for gays to show affection in public.
Guess they don’t want to become the next Key West.
I’m praying for a rogue wave.It the ship is then undamaged,at least these carpet munchers will get a bath.
I wouldn’t bet on 0%.....
Hmmm... maybe I’ll add Bermuda to my list of possible summer vacationing spots.
Thank you, Bermuda!
That island paradise is a beautiful, conservative, and very religious place. It should not be defiled by Rosie and her ilk.
Nyack always sounds like a cat with a hairball.
Guess it fits in this instance.
The shops on this ship will be filled with S&M and B&D wares along with the usual Dildo’s ,strap-ons and enema bags found at San Francisco gay boutiques.
Dilbert: “Let her and everyone just live their life but, Rosie, dont get in our face about it.”
Couldn’t have said it better myself. The militant “in your face” approach has backfired terribly proving that lefties should not handle firearms.
If you give one penny to ABC or Disney, you are supporting this abomination.
Blame it on Bush and the RATS will have another investigation.
They're no doubt, going to roll out the carpet for them.
I stumbled into a gay bar in Hamilton one night many moons ago. The Cock & Feather. Had a blast. Couldn’t figure out why all them fellers were so friendly though... A local waiter clued me in the next morning. Hell, no harm, no foul I guess...
Some wanted to call it the “Love Boat”, but it ended up being called the “Faggot Freighter”.
Rosie always looks like she needs an enema! ;)
You speak tongue-in-cheek, no doubt.
Why doesn’t she tour some jihadistan with a port?
Looks like the menu on the cruise will be bearded clam for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
>BTW, has President Bush been blamed yet for the shooting at VA Tech?
Yup - see Neal Boortz column today. One whackjob wrote him that its because of the Iraqi war we don’t have funds for proper security on campus. The nut also says: “This wouldn’t have happened if John Kerry had been elected”.
Incredible - the horrors of BDS
“We’ve scrubbed and mopped, Cap’n—and it still smells like Puget Sound.”
Ahhhh....the language of love!
Hmm, a “cruise” where all the guests are identified CHIEFLY by the manner and with whom they have sex.
I hope all the maids knock extra hard on the doors before they go in for room service.
What? And risk having all that nookier waste of Rosie’s spread all over from a dirty bomb? No tank you.
I don’t get it. If it’s really “nothing you have to feel bad about”, why whould you need to hide from non-violent people who think you are sinning and want to warn you about it?
Bermuda Baptists to the Rosie Rugmunchers: “Keep Your Cotton-Pickin’ Clams Off Our Islands !”
;-D
I wouldn't take my two impressionable daughters within a hundred miles of the place today. I'd have to destroy what few years of innocence society still grants them by explaining why those two men are french kissing.
I can’t imagine taking young, impressionable children on a cruise like that.
Rosie and her friends are such degenerates.
I have known several men from my graduating class in high school who sadly have "gone to play for the other team", and it is amazing as time goes by how "the lifestyle" becomes all they are.
I am a father, a Christian, a D&D player, a computer gamer, a carpenter, a singer, a writer, and a dozen other things. Each is a small part of the gestault that I am, in a balance. But to those men, bit by bit, homosexuality has become the central alter of everything they do. Every comment by anyone is filtered through the Gay Lens; every political or personal reaction is a reflection of their sin. It is, in the end, the ultimate Narcissim...the entire universe ends up revolving around the issue of their sexuality. Simultainously, you as an outsider are expected to know that the afflicted person really doesn't care what you think, and at the same time demands you rubberstamp your approval upon their choices.
I informed three of these guys that while I wished them the absolute best in life, that they were smart, talented and upstanding people otherwise, but still, I thought what they were doing was morally wrong. I was informed what a bigot I was, how they didn't really care about my opinion, and in one case, the fellow, (who worked for Legal Aid, go fig) threatened that he would swear out a restraining order to keep me 500 feet away from him if I ever "witnessed to him again."
I think the kind of self-glorification and complete insecurity that makes great actors is at the core of "gayity"...it all becomes "Look at me, look at me! It's All About ME!"
I have to leave...this thread is giving me some bad visuals.....Arrgh
I agree, it is the ultimate “ME” trip.
In God’s plan, denial of self is one of the cornestones of Christianity. Gays argue that they are born that way, therefore they should be able to do their thing.
I was born with a strong heterosexual sex-drive. But I can only fulfil that in ONE way, through marriage. I see beautiful women all the time, and I may want them, but, I cannot have them.
God forbids homosexuality. Either accept it or live in opposition to God’s will. WE have a choice.
It’s a neurosis...always has been. Too bad the psychiatrists decided to declare it normal by taking it off the list of psychological illnesses.
They can try all they like to mainstream their perversion...deep down, people cannot respect them for wallowing in their neuroses.
Personally, I wish they would all go back into the closet and stay there.
I don’t blame you. It’s particularly hard to take at dinnertime!
I am leaving now, too.
