"In an interview on Tuesday, Lantos described the Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi's recent visit to Damascus as important to open dialogue channels with it as saying: "The visit expressed in a marvelous way interests of the US, that led to embarrassment of the current US administration which has closed doors for dialogue with Syria."

"Lantos expressed desire to visit Damascus once more and that he will not comply with the policy of the US President George W. Bush regarding it."

Considering this is a Syrian news source, I don`t know if Lantos actually said those things. But it still shows the dangers of Pelosi trying to conduct a US foreign policy separate from the Executive branch.

Well, I don't agree with any taxes Democrats have imposed on me over the years either, so I guess this means we can all ignore them as well. Laws are only for the suckers who choose to obey them.

The sooner Lantos and Pelosi return to Syria, the sooner the Israelis can launch a cruise missle dedicated to their memories.

Sure Lantos... Go make nice with the government that assassinated the leader of the free Lebanon government...

Why is it that dems seem to LOVE murderous dictators? Maybe it’s because those murderous dictators are role models for what the dems want to do, “when they grow up.”

This is gone on long enough. It’s time for the State Department to start cancelling some passports.

This was her intention from the very beginning.

Why do you think she so desperately wanted "Pelosi One?"

First we would have to kick out the Socialists and Marxists out of the State Department - and that is about 85% of the total on payroll.

It is indeed, the “embarrassment of the current US administration” that is of prime interest to Pelosi and Lantos, not channels of dialogue with our enemies.

Lock him up in a cell for a couple of days and then guillotine him.

The State Dept is too busy releasing Iranian agents to be bothered with that.

To actually have a viable shadow government, you would need the support of the military and something tells me that the military would choose the CIC over Pelosi any day of the week.

This is true. Unfortunately, Madame Pop Beads considers "Alqueda" as her "military". :o)

“Why do you think she so desperately wanted “Pelosi One?”

Certainly looks like she believes she was elected President instead of just House Speaker.

Some president willing to serve one term must “reinvent government.” Completely disband whole portions of the executive branch. NEA, State, CIA, and IRS are tops on the list. State, CIA, and IRS are not salvageable, NEA is evil. Start new organizations for “State” “CIA” and the flat tax collection center.

That is very true - but the military would only be a factor if the US really edged close to (or in the throes of) an actual revolution.

In post WW I Germany, it was the military that proved to be the crucial balance to whom held power. In Berlin, the military set up machine gun nests to guard certain politicians and aspects of working government.

You are quite correct that the military would side with Bush, moreover, they would side with Republicans above Democrats.

We are nowhere close to that stage, BUT, we should not ever presume it "could not happen here." It certainly could.
