Kerik did not want either country "tainted" by the allegations of ethics violations.

So, Bernie baby, it was OK to "taint" the USA when you and Giuliani colluded to hoodwink GWB into appointing you Homeland/Sec? Making false statements on your Homeland/Sec application was okay, right Bernie?

BULLETIN: Kerik was forced out---supposedly b/c of illegal nanny problems. Later reports indicate Kerik and Giuliani tried to pull a fast one on GWB. The duo tried to hoodwink the President into appointing this con artist. GWB was left with egg on his face on the global stage when Kerik could not pass muster. At the time Giuliani pushed Kerik onto GWB, Kerik was then Rudy's business partner in a "security firm."

BULLETIN Years before the Homeland/Sec con job, and even before Rudy appointed Kerik (his driver and bodyguard) to NYC police commissioner, Rudy was briefed on Kerik's possible mob connections. (Rudiani claims he "forgot" he knew Kerik was mobbed-up).

BULLETIN: And get this Rudiani con job: Giuliani's CYA Spin Machine went into overdrive trying to coverup the sleazy Kerik episode---even going so far as to smear Pres Bush---saying GWB knew of Kerik's sleazy past, but was nominating him despite it.

Yep, Kerik’s obviously all you’ve got on Rudy. It must be discouraging for you to do all this sleuthing day after day and only come up with a friend’s sins.

Keep on digging. Rudy’s just gotta be crook, he’s gotta HE’S GOTTA!!!

If the Giuliani Security team doesn't get there first, that is.

If the Carib harbors rapists who sedate victims with date-rape drugs, Giuliani Security will be right on top of it (snicker).

Giuliani gets busted lying to MSNBC: At the time of the Homeland/Sec fiasco, Giuliani repeatedly said that Kerik's role in the Giuliani firm was very limited, representing "less than 5%t" of its business.

HELLO, HE LIED Rooty also said that Kerik's position was largely limited to their joint venture, Giuliani-Kerik. "He's not part of Giuliani Partners," the former mayor said. But at the firm's Web site, Kerik is described as a "Senior Vice President at Giuliani Partners."

Excerpted from the Giuliani Partners website: Mr. Kerik is a Senior Vice President at Giuliani Partners and is Chief Executive Officer of Giuliani-Kerik LLC, an affiliate of Giuliani Partners. Giuliani Partners has at least 12 partners and executives.

Giuliani later explained the discrepancy by saying: "Senior vice president of the group is what Bernie was when we started. I think that remains his title, but that's not the way we primarily relate to him. As you know, he does some work for a few of our clients." He added: "We should probably straighten it out and point out where his ownership interest is and primary work is done."

POT CALLING THE KETTLE BLACK? Giuliani is perpetually in damage control. Kerik was supposedly tossed out when it became clear his sleazy activities would harm sleazy Giuliani's political ambitions. Savvy people are still betting Kerik will be perusing FBI files should Rudiani ever get near our WH.

***** Keep on digging. Rudy’s just gotta be crook, he’s gotta HE’S GOTTA!!! ****

Not that Liz needs any help with getting dirt on Rudy Rambo, but since I have this handy.....

  1. Disdain for the Constitution
Mayor Giuliani routinely disregarded the First Amendment as he rejected requests for information from news organizations and civic groups and opposed public access to city hall steps and parks for demonstrations. "Freedom is about authority," Giuliani said, responding to critics in 1998. "Freedom is about the willingness of every single human being to cede to lawful authority a great deal of discretion about what you do and how you do it."

  2. Subverting Democracy to Suit His Needs
Just two weeks after the Twin Towers fell, Giuliani attempted to become the first official in American history to use an emergency to extend his elected term. Most Americans forget that Giuliani spent a week bullying the mayoral candidates to allow him three extra months in office after his term ended in December 2001. The power grab fell through when the leader of the state assembly refused to change electoral law to suit Giuliani's demands.

  3. Withholding Public Information
In a legally questionable transaction on December 24, 2001, just days before the end of the mayor's second term, Giuliani secretly moved all 2,100 boxes of mayoral files and videos from his eight years in office. The records, which by law were to become the property of the Municipal archives, were transferred to a gated private storage facility, and their control was transferred to the Rudolph W. Giuliani Center for Urban Affairs, a newly-established private nonprofit group controlled by Giuliani.

Angry archivists and historians denounced the unprecedented hijacking of public property to private hands. Tom Connors, of the Society of American Archivists, said the transfer seemed part of a movement to "create barriers to the American citizen's right to know what their governments are doing."

  4. Profiting From His Hero Status
In February, 2002, Giuliani insisted upon transferring guardianship of the $100 million remaining in the city-run Twin Towers Fund to a private charity he controlled.

The families of the police and fire rescuers who died in the attack balked at Giuliani's plan to take up to a year to dole out the money, with his new organization billing $2.2 million in anticipated administrative expenses (including six-figure salaries for friends he appointed as officers). The families argued that the fire union had far more quickly distributed $111 million with an estimated administrative cost of just $30,000.

Under embarrassing pressure from the victims' families, unions and state Attorney General Elliot Spitzer, Giuliani backed down. He promised to distribute the money within 60 days and fund his overhead from new donations. The families of the deceased rescuers, the real heroes of the September 11 attacks, received a one-time benefit of about $230,000 each from the Giuliani-privatized fund in 2002.

That year, the former mayor earned some $8 million in speaking fees alone, more than $650,000 per month.

The guy's a mutt and a poseur.

Maybe you will be able to find something. However I don't see any of these 4 points that you bring up numbered 1-4 as being what you seem to think they are. None of them seems like a serious ethical violation to me.

They just don't.

Ronald Reagen had many cabinet members resign due to violations and he was a great President.

So Kerik cheated on his mistress or something, big deal. I suppose Rudy should have prevented that?

MONTAG 813 POSTED What the heck did Kerik do? So he owned some Taser stock and didn’t report it?....Big damn deal.

Let us thank M813 profusely for reminding us of the Taser con---now included in The Kerik Sleaze Lineup:

THE KERIK SLEAZE LINEUP: The feds recently offered Kerik a deal to plead guilty to tax fraud and illegal eavesdropping conspiracy charges.....in exchange for dropping criminal probes into Kerik's alleged mortgage fraud, tax fraud, conspiracy to eavesdrop, and making false statements on his US Homeland Security Secretary application.

Kerik pleaded guilty last year to receiving tens of thousands of dollars in free renovations to an apartment he owned while a city official, renovations provided by company with reputed links to organized crime. A federal investigation into allegations of mortgage fraud in connection with his purchase of the apartment continues. Kerik was forced out of the running for Homeland/Sec Kerik, after he admitted he had not paid taxes on behalf of his illegal-immigrant nanny.

CIRCA JAN 2005 Federal agents considered a probe of Kerik back in 2000 — the year he moved from head of the Correction Department to become Mayor Giuliani's police commissioner — after Wall Street securities trader Lawrence Ray began giving information to the FBI on the stock swindle. Ray pleaded guilty to conspiracy in 2001 after being indicted with 18 others, some high-level mobsters, in a $41 million pump-and-dump stock fraud. Ray then had a falling-out with Kerik over the case.

Wall Street securities trader Lawrence Ray had introduced Kerik to the head of an allegedly mob-linked construction company in New Jersey, Interstate Industrial. Interstate owner Frank DiTomasso eventually hired Ray and Kerik's brother Don to help convince authorities the firm wasn't controlled by the mob — and protect $100 million worth of contracts with the city. No investigation into Kerik was launched at the time and the matter was dropped.

CIRCA JAN 2005 But the feds' interest was recently rekindled after they learned Ray bankrolled Kerik's 1998 wedding — kicking in with another pal nearly $10,000 for the reception — and forked over another $7,000 in additional gifts. "A guy in Kerik's position should not be accepting those kinds of gifts," said one source familiar with the FBI's concerns.

Another area of suspicion for the feds is the $6.2 million profit Kerik made from exercising his stock options in Taser International, which sold stun guns to the Department of Homeland Security before Kerik was nominated to head the agency. Kerik, who worked as a consultant to the firm while police chief, remains on Taser's board of directors. He told the White House he planned to sever his relationship with the company if his nomination had been confirmed.

Kerik is currently (as of JAN 2005) being probed by the city Department of Investigation and the Bronx District Attorney's Office.

Thanks again, M813. Appreciate it.

I think Gulianni is the Howard Dean of the GOP. All the early hoopla for sure. Why so many people here eat up the hoopla is beyond me.

That being said, I don’t think Kerik is the evil guy so many make him out to be. He is a bit of an odd duck and it wouldn’t surprise me if his career wasn’t 100% aboveboard, but from what I’ve read much of the stuff he’s been accused of is blown at least somewhat out of proportion.

http://members.forbes.com/global/2006/1113/034.html

...Bernie Kerik is still embarrassing his old boss. The contretemps involves former Westchester County (New York) district attorney Jeanine Pirro, recorded by the police talking with Kerik last year about bugging her husband’s boat to expose an affair. Kerik called an employee of Giuliani Security & Safety to get a recording device. Pirro insists the boat was never bugged but reportedly had her husband followed by Giuliani Security employees. “It was, for lack of a better term, ‘freelance’ work,” says Sunny Mindel, Rudy Giuliani’s spokesperson. “Jeanine Pirro was not a client.”
