Department embarrasses Purdue with Sheehan visit

What qualifies Cindy Sheehan to speak at Purdue? Does she hold an advanced degree in foreign relations? Has she physically been in Iraq meeting with the local people? Has she done research that those with PhDs can discuss as thoughtful? Or is she a vengeful, hateful person who can not deal with her own son's death? Cindy Sheehan needs to be in therapy. She should not be touring the country like she has knowledge on the conflict in Iraq because she does not. Obviously, the political science department cares not for meaningful conversation about Iraq, because then they would invite people who have been there and/or studied the region. They would rather get their name out in the national press for this despicable act. They should invite someone who knows what MNF-I, MNC-I and IED stand for. Come to think of it, did Cindy Sheehan even graduate high school?
The political science department is an embarrassment at Purdue. I have no respect for them. They make me sick with their lack of educational expertise on the situation in Iraq. They would rather make Iraq a political statement then have a bona fide discussion on the topic. Thanks, political science department, for taking the easy road on education and not trying to teach students about the actual facts and situations in Iraq.
How many Purdue Boilermakers or alumni have been to Iraq? But why invite them to speak when you can have the burned out hippie Cindy Sheehan at Purdue!? The department would rather be a shock jock department with Cindy Sheehan then to actually debate issues and foster a learning environment at Purdue. I say again, the political science department is an embarrassment to the advanced educational system in place in this country.

Yesterday a friend of mine was telling me about his grandson’s experience at college. The grandson is taking a philosophy class and apparently instead of reading the words of the philosophers and discussing, the class discussions and work center on pundits who tell the students what the philosophers meant.
Critical thought has fled our universities.
I love the phrase “Shock Jock department”.
it is a far better way to state that this Purude academic department hmmm...lack gravitas.
Purdue is probably trying to keep up with Indiana University.
It’s not that Cindy cannot deal with her son’s death, it’s that she decided to exploit his death to pursue her own agenda.
Purdue still has a ways to go, although IU did manage to get Jim Cramer on campus without any major anti-capitalism demonstrations.
