I was in the D.C. area at the time and used to listen to him quite religiously. (Sgt. Fury, Carlos the international terrorist, Lawman, the six-minute workout... great stuff.) I worked from midnight to 8am and my work allowed me (as well as the rest of the shift) to listen in at the start of his show. He would air live from 6am to 8am and then from 8 to 10 he would broadcast live but his "bits" were replayed from earlier. The joke came at the beginning of the show at 6am and not too many people heard it. But word got out and the proverbial shiite hit the fan.
I was bummed because the Greaseman didn't need to go "there" with his comedy to be entertaining and it was not something you would have expected from him. He had replaced Howard Stern at DC101 when Stern went off to New York and the Greaseman was far more entertaining. I was very pleased to see Stern go away, the Greaseman was a breath of fresh air.
Seems Ms. Ifill can't escape her own racism.
As we suspect, the whole Imus incident is overblown. Anytime Sharpton and Jackson inject themselves into one of these non-controversies, we know a shakedown is underway.
Where were Sharpton and Jackson when black rappers were “popularizing” their disgraceful attitudes to “hos” and the banned “N-word”??
(Crickets chirping)
These words probably wouldn’t be in anyone’s vocabulary today without the rappers - particularly the gangsta rappers who also “popularized” the idea of killing cops.
Imus let his mouth run away with himself and made a mistake. He has played the Michael Richards game of apologizing profusely to the race baiters and his network is going to “punish” him with a two-week suspension. It’s time to focus attention BACK on Pelosi and her middle-east pandering tour and move on with our lives.
Has anyone heard Don Imus say “Rosebud” yet. The liberal self-absorbed king maker is about done it seems.
This morning, while Matt Lauer had Imus and Sharpton on a split screen interview , Imus called Sharpton "Reverend Hargus". Sharpton winced a bit as Imus corrected himself. That in itself was priceless.
LOL!!! Lord, how I wish I had seen that!!!
Don Imus can say whatever he wants subject to the approval of his employers. Imus is the employee, not the employer.
You called that one. What's up with that?
Interesting details about Epiphanny. There are reports the Rutgers team players will speak out on the issue. I wonder how many of them will be labeled with that othe racial epithet: “articulate”?
Thats different.
I heard that he is supposed to be doing an already-planned radiothon for 3 days this week. Like him or not...and I don’t...he can raise a lot of money for SIDS or some hospital in New Jersey or his ranch. I think that that’s why he’s not suspended instantly.
That’s what Imus would have said back in the day. He used to say it all the time. He didn’t care what people thought. His groveling is disgraceful.
I’m sorry if I talk about what I’ve experienced in my lifetime. I call women bitches and ‘hos because all the women I’ve met since I’ve been out here are bitches and ‘hos.
And what do you call your mother? a female reporter asks.
I call her “woman,” but I’m not f — -ing my mother. If I was f — -ing you, you’d be a bitch.

I remember Gwen “5 minute speech disguised as a question” Ifill from the presidential debates.
She’s got some mitts on her - a basketball past perhaps?
I used to listen to Imus on a regular basis. I stopped listening when his level of hate escalated. He has always been a racist and anti-semite. According to people who know him the “N” word flows freely off air. I believe in free speech and believe the listening public should make the decisions on what shows they listen to, not the jerks in the perpetually offended community. However, there is something delicious in what is happening to Imus. He has always been the first one to jump on someone who has been perceived to say something politically incorrect. He always portrays people like Rush and other conservatives as being racists, bigots, homophobes, etc. He has been on his knees kissing the butts of people like Russert, Mitchell, Matthews, Kerry, Feinman, Alter and all the other liberals for ages. These are the same people who would refuse to appear with a conservative if that particular conservative had the nerve to look at someone the wrong way no less make an un-pc remark. They are the first ones to label any ideas that don’t conform with their liberalism as radical. And....they will all be back kissing Imus’s butt because, as Feinman said yesterday, Imus is a voice for their point of view and the only voice with any kind of ratings. They will therefore prove they don’t care about minorities or hate speech. They only care about their own agenda.
I tuned in to the show this morning to see what the station had on in his place. Didn’t realize Imus is not suspended until Monday. There was Bill Maher defending Imus. Yikes. Is that the best he can do? I only listened long enough to find out who the rump swab was that was talking to Imus. I knew the voice sounded familiar but couldn’t quite place it. As soon as Imus said “we are talking to Bill Maher” I changed the station.
Jeff Greenfield is on with Imus right now. He said that this is “not the Bengals... accused of assault.”
Yes it is.
