Criticizing his politics is most definitely fair play. Implying that he is some kind of traitor is absolutely disgusting. The person who says this deserves a swift kick in the lower region.

My source- my own conversations with former POW’s I have known as professional and social contacts. It really is their story to tell, not mine. But they won't, most likely.

Would I have been tougher than McCain? I don't know but I hope so. My training tried to impress upon me how to be, and why.

I know I wouldn't’t have discussed the location and complement of my aircraft carrier with the French press while enjoying clean sheets in an NVA VIP hospital within days after my capture.

I know unlike John McCain, I wouldn't’t have become a US Senator who crapped on legislative and foreign policy efforts to hold the Vietnamese accountable for the men who still haven’t come home.

I know as a US Senator with McCains experiences and knowledge, I wouldn't’t have gone back to Vietnam hugging and kissing my torturers while there are in open and classified sources the names and faces of brave men who were captured alive by Vietnamese forces and never heard from again.

I know the honor code among the POWs is strong. They will not to talk ill of any of their number who returned, regardless of what they privately know about the conduct or misconduct any of them may have engaged in.

Therefore whether any would speak out about McCain and share publicly what some have told me and others privately, would be questionable.

Enough of your belligerence against me, about whom you know nothing. Be happy with your man. Keep him on a pedestal as a hero. He will never be President of the USA and will probably pass on a legacy of honor as you and millions of other Americans perceive it.

He isn’t my man and I wouldn’t say that I would support him for President. I’ll admit that I wasn’t even around during his captivity. It sounds like you’ve heard it from direct sources, so I’ll apologize for my earlier remarks. I am just very sensitive when it comes to men who spent years in a POW camp, regardless of their political beliefs.
