The speech was on live TV. Too bad you missed it, I didn't!

It was on live around 10:30am ET or so. GWB has always given these fabulous speeches during weekdays - in the middle of the day - when most people are at work or at school. I think only news/political junkies like us see them IF we happen to be around a television during the day.

I've been complaining for the last six years that GWB needs to do speeches like this during prime time. I think his poll ratings and - more importantly - the country's attitude toward him and the War on Terrorism would dramatically improve if he "sold" his ideas on a regular basis to the American people the way Clintoon did...

Take care. And with that, I'll say goodnight and go pop in 'When Worlds Collide'. :-)

The press won't interrupt their prime-time for the President...didn't you know that? It's criminal I think.

Oh, please! At this same time in the Reagan presidency, Reagan was hounded just as much by the media, and was not able to get done what he wanted to do, either. I'm not sure his approval ratings were any better than President Bush's when you compare the time frames.

Actually, Reagan's approval rating bottomed out around 45%. Bush's hits the 30-35% mark.

He also didn't have the internet movement hounding every move he makes, and the media didn't hate him the way they hate W.

I will remember him in truth..not through the distortions of our enemies or political foes.

I will too. But like Harry Truman, it will take years, likely past his death, before the American public realizes the truth.

The media hated Reagan. They pounded him mercilessly. Then RR would go on TV, and talk directly to the American people. With his brilliant communications skills, he was able to counteract much of the MSM damage.

On some rare occasions, President Bush has exhibited flashes of great communications skills. But more often, he doesn't come across so well.

I hope that he follows some aspects of Rush's advice, and accompanies his veto of the surrender bill with an appropriately fierce speech.

I think that there is a very limited number of times per year that the President can give Prime Time speech and the networks will carry it, let us say no more than 3 or 4 times including the State of the Union Address.

How many prime time speeches Clinton gave?

Agree. HE is the President. He should just go for it. As you said he has nothing to lose. I'm so hurt. Just so brokenhearted.

I hope you are right but everyday I see us being stomped on harder and harder and no one in the lead seems to be doing anything about it. Like I said...I hope you are right but I can't see us winning anything. What am I missing?????

You know, it's important for you to understand that the Iraqi people want to live in freedom and peace. I believe strongly in the universality of liberty. I believe people want to be free, and if given a chance, they will take the risks necessary to be free.

I fear that it is upon this misunderstanding that the whole of our mideast policy is doomed to fail.

I do not see the democrats backing down no matter the veto. They will just give him another bill to either sign or veto and he will be faced with no monies for the military or withdrawal. What will he do then? I am beginning to think this may force his hand in Iran. He may just go ahead and strike them quickly while we still have forces to do so. Destroy their nuclear facilities which will hopefully set back their ability to produce weaponry for another 5 years or so. This would be a tremendous accomplishment and in time (as the Israeli strike) would be recognized as a courageous act that might save the world from conflagration. Of course, it might take some time for people to give him that credit and in the meantime, we would be roundly denounced by the rest of the world and of course by our leftists and their media. But considering that the leftist world already hates both the U S and Bush, what is there to lose.

The Dems will have to come out with a clean bill for the Military after this atrocity is vetoed....

They knew it all along but they had to cover themselves for their moonbat base.

Have faith..there is sanity in the madness.

People watch weekly television during prime time.

Pre-empting American Idol would kill anyone's approval ratings.

I wish I thought so. We should be (and England) attacking Iran as we speak!
