As my frustration with the state of Massachusetts grows, I found out a few days ago that my 14 year old daughter has the chicken pox. Shortly thereafter, I was enlightened to the fact that there were a number of cases of the virus being endured by kids of all ages in my daughter's school system. A small epidemic. Now before evoking judgment for posting such a boring thread, here's the punch line. Most of the cases are repeats. That's right, many of the kids have already had the chicken pox, including my daughter.
Now that I've got your attention, let me go a little further with this. Back in November, a healthy, beautiful, vibrant, intelligent and active young lady of 14, was stricken by an unknown aliment. She went into a coma, and on February 2, passed away after a multitude of complications caused by the virus destroying her internal organs. Doctors have no clue as to what it was, and probably never will.
We live in a country with medical care that's second to none. In the past, if you had the chicken pox, you didn't get them again, period. We used to have chicken pox parties so we could it over with, remember? And how can a healthy, strong, young girl, be so aggressively, and incurably attacked, and succomb while in the care of one of the most respected hospitals in the world (Children of Boston).
At the risk of being a politically incorrect conspiracy theorist thug. At the risk of having my tongue torn out and eyes gouged out by the Duval, Kennedy, Kerry, cronie liberals of this state, I'm going to offer one explanation that may explain both instances.
Over the last five years or so, my town has been invaded by illegals from Brazil, Guatemala, and Equador. You can't drive down main street without counting 50 of them. They gather by the hundreds on Sundays in our town parks to the point where the parks are unusable by the people who pay the taxes to maintain them. They come here from rain forests and mountains without medical screening, carrying who knows what. They throw their kids into our school system where they hack and wease whatever they're carrying for all to breathe in. When is it going to stop? Why are my tax dollars paying for the education of people who are making my kids sick? Is it so unreasonable for me to theorize that they may be carrying strains of sicknesses that we haven't seen before? Am I so cynical to believe that this may have crossed minds of the experts, but at the risk of being politically incorrect, has not been introduced as a viable possibility?
I hope this thread finds the eyes of someone who may be in a position to underscore, in a public forum, this subject as a potentially catastrophic effect of illegal immigration. My states government doesn't care about the cost of supporting illegals. They don't care about the increased crime rate at the hands of illegals. They don't care if we're hit and killed by unlicensed driver illegals. They don't care that illegals are taking jobs that used to pay decent money for peanuts. They don't care that most of that money is going back "home". They just plain are putting the welfare of these ILLEGAL immigrants before the welfare of the people who are paying their salary.
Maybe they'll bat an eye if someone can convince them that they might be silently killing our kids.
Be sure to have your kids checked for TB once a year, too. In that kind of environment, it would be surprising if they WEREN'T exposed to TB and a number of other Third World ailments. We are importing poverty, and povery is bringing with it problems that are spreading to the population at large.
A new strain of chicken pox (from some turd world country) is circulating.
Past infection and/or the innoculation for the Western strain should make this case very mild.
It's all over the country. (I live in Midland, TX and it's here, too.)
It's not true that if you've had the chicken pox before you can't get them again.
USUALLY you don't, but sometimes you don't develop an immunity.
The chicken pox virus never leaves you. It retreats into the nerves, and emerges again later in adulthood as shingles. A few unfortunates get shingles, and then have them develop into full-blown chicken pox. My mother had it happen to her, and I have had it happen to me. Having chicken pox AND the shingles at the same time sucks.
Shingles BITES. I don't want to imagine what it would be like with chickenpox at the same time.
They realy don't give a crap about your kids. They care about your money, and your vote. If you can somehow tie in the fact that your kids and your money and your votes are connected, they may listen.
But for every Conservtive parent like you smart enough to realize the cause, the effect, and the solution to your problem, there are ten liberal parents who would rather catch a disease and die than be "un-pc."
BTW: An"epidemic" of repeat chicken pox cases does neither sounds common, nor trivial.
Emphasis on usually. What are the odds of a few dozen kids in the same school system coming down with it at the same time. The only explanation is that it's an outside strain from somewhere else which is my point exactly. It's not pox I'm worried about, it's whatever else they carry.
I have had shingles twice. The second time was the full outbreak, which then progressed to big blistery, itchy chicken pox on top of skin that just sat there and hurt. You know what I am talking about. It just HURTS. It doesn't throb. It doesn't feel like it's been scratched. It doesn't have a dull ache. It hurts. And hurts and hurts and hurts. Awful.
You will be pleased to know that the first time I got shingles I had no rash, no breakout, nothing, except in one little place, and invisible place. I went to the doctor dying of a brain-tumor-style crushing agonizing hurts-to-see headache that lasted a week and and wouldn't go away.
Checked me over, and looked in my ears and whistled. My first outbreak of shingles was only on the inside of my left ear canal. It was pain so bad, for so long, that no drug helped but perscription narcotics (and that didn't really help). Awful.
One word pal... MOVE!
It's possible, but improbable that your daughter picked something exotic up from the illegals' kids. A second dose of Chicken Pox is rare, but it happens, usually it's not as bad the second time around.
When I was four, my two year old sister and I had chicken pox. Memorable because my mom was in the hospital having our little sister at the time.
When I was ten, there were six of us and we all got the chicken pox, including the two of us who had presumably already had it.
Apparently, sometimes it just happens. We didn't catch it from illegal aliens, it was just going around.
Do you live in Framingham or Milford?
I hope that your kiddo feels better real soon. I got chicken pox when I was in my late twenties and have never been sicker and more miserable.
"In the past, if you had the chicken pox, you didn't get them again, period. "
That is not quite true. Essentially once you get the virus for chicken pox, you have it forever. There is no immunity per se, but rather the pox virus happily lives forever snuggled up in nerve ganglia in certain parts of the body. Herpes is the same kind of parvovirus as chicken pox and you can have outbreaks. Likewise, having herpes once doesn't mean you won't have them any longer or that they can't come back. Something can come along and trigger these viruses to wake up and reactivate.
Quite rare.
Having had chicken pox and later shingles I can appreciate your concern.
Very, very painful.
ILLEGALS are all over the place, idiot.
No reason for THIS person to "move".
We need to "move" ILLEGALS back to where ever they came from. Geesh!
One of my daughters had it as an infant and then later when she was 6. The doctor said that sometimes when the 1st infection is so mild, you can get it again.
