Civic leaders say they are looking for more than just a snappy line. Tourism accounts for $5 billion in direct spending each year (and $550 million a year into the city's general fund.)..

..and that is in spite of their civic leaders.

It goes through the far-east side of town. Getting to 295 from most parts of DC is a half-hour drive. What if you're starting out in Foggy Bottom?

I think DC wanted to avoid bulldozing neighborhoods and historic buildings to allow a freeway through town, which is admirable, but at this point, a REAL crosstown freeway would do wonders for traffic. Also a couple more ways to cross the Potomac wouldn't hurt.

D.C: We were too stupid to avoid following the fad of spending millions on a slogan (instead of spending on education or infrastructure)

Not terribly catchy, is it?
