Oh, terrific. What are the odds that we can pass any laws against cloning, Frankenstein experimentation, or mix-and-matching between beasts and humans while Nancy Pelosi is in charge?

Is it just me, or does that sheep look very sad?

We used to talk in the 70's about the worst thing that could come from cloning - it was that the Chinese might create a cross between humans and animals to use as slaves.

Cutting them up is even beyond the worst case.

We could fix the organ donation problem in a week by paying the family of deceased $1000 - a pittance compared to the $100,000+ the doctors and hospitals make.

The medical profession says it would be unethical to pay volunteers compensation for their organs but suddenly its OK to create human crossbreeds and deny them the most basic rights as we slaughter them for their parts.

There's no hybrid sheep - it's just an illusion. I saw Harry Blackstone do the same trick on the old Dean Martin show years ago.

I hear Derren Brown will be doing it on his next BBC 4 special. :-)

I think it's dangerous to toy with human life. I also think it's cruel to breed human/sheep so that they can be killed for their organs. I know we kill animals for food and research, but this just seems different to me. Besides, I'm not so sure I'd feel comfortable with an organ that's 85% lamb. Plus, as another poster mentioned, if we ate happened to eat one of those sheep, we'd be 15% cannibal.

Nonetheless, this might provide the beastiality crowd a reason to crow over. They could claim it would be acceptable to "marry" or have sex with because it is part human. It's only 15% so I doubt the government would buy it.

I think the number of lives liable to be saved by having more transplantable organs, is much less then the number of lives risked by making it that much easier for animal diseases to evolve into diseases that humans can catch

Plus, where is the threshold? A sheep that is 15% human is livestock property that can be butchered for food. How about an animal that's 40% human? 50%? 99%? I believe that there is great danger in bluring the distinction between animal and human

The sheep have 15 per cent human cells and 85 per cent animal cells - and their evolution brings the prospect of animal organs being transplanted into humans one step closer.
< SNIP >
He has already created a sheep liver which has a large proportion of human cells and eventually hopes to precisely match a sheep to a transplant patient, using their own stem cells to create their own flock of sheep.

The term 'evolution' is wrongly used in so many cases--often deliberately. If this chimera 'evolved' then the Doctor's intelligent design wasn't necessary....

This is just plain wrong, most of these are the same people in favor of Frankenstein science who would also want to turn humans into cannibals with by injecting stem cells from fetuses into their bodies, so they can live their selfish lives, they are the same who hate carbon emissions with their global warring science, which is really a war of hatred against life itself, since we are made up of carbon and carbon emissions, they seek to destroy the family so that our heritage will cease, they are in favor of abortions they want to limit child births, they despise any culture that is strong and productive while supporting those with failed values, they are driven by evil plain and simple....Satan's plan involves deceiving humans into accepting and participating in their own downfall, these people who support liberal and godless values are the pawns of destruction, so may they reap what they have sowed, or may they see that their selfish goals of immortality are of diminishing return .
