when the State fails in its duty, you can be sure that 'non-state actors' will take action on their own.

It's going to take another outbreak or two of 'Sudden Jihad Syndrome' before a significant portion of the population wises up to what's going on around them. Watch for more and more people to begin arming themselves and just flat ignoring those stupid 'No Guns' signs. I'll bet a significant number are doing that already.

Since my entire State has a 'no concealed weapons' sign up I've been forced to. I've taken steps to see that when my family is in a likely disarmed victim zone I'm not while also seeing that my behavior nominally complies with the law.

It's not ideal, but it is necessary. So I guess I'm one of those 'non state actors' who's taking action.

It's only going to take a few more events like this to reach a tipping point. Either enough people will rise up and demand their politicians follow the plan language of the Constitution or the opposite will happen and a massive crackdown on privately owned firearms will begin.

In the first instance more people will be protected. In the second, an ugly and brutal low level civil war will commence.

I think if the second instance occurs, it isn't going to be a low-level civil war. Too many Americans know ways to escalate even without "sporting arms."
