Tancredo: Attorney General Should Step Down

Tancredo, a candidate for the GOP presidential nomination, said in a statement Tuesday that he doesn't believe that Gonzales' handling of the prosecutors' firings alone warrants his dismissal. But "his total mishandling of the affair is simply the latest latest in a series of leadership failures at the Justice Department," chiefly his handling of illegal immigration prosecutions, Tancredo said. "Gonzales' legacy at the DOJ has been one of misplaced priorities, political miscalculation, and a failure to enforce the laws which he's sworn to uphold." Tancredo faulted several Justice Department decisions dealing with border crimes, including the prosecution of two Border Patrol agents [Compean and Ramos]. Tancredo said Gonzales should have overturned local and state "sanctuary" policies, which Tancredo said allow people to help illegal immigrants avoid deportation. ...Gonzales should have gotten tough on nations that resist U.S. attempts to return foreigners who have broken U.S. laws.

Failure to enforce federal law aggravated by incompetence. Maybe he should go back to Texas and join Sutton, the prosecutor who railroaded the Border Patrol agents. Crawford might be a good place to wait for one of their buddies.

And exactly what kind of AG do you think we can get through the Senate to replace him? I'm afraid he is the best we will see at this time. I don't think the Dems will accept anyone to the right of Janet Reno.

Do u think Gonzales has enforced current border laws?
To: jveritas
Exactly. Not a person I'd want on my side in a fight for my life.

Then proudly heap shame upon me, for I love the guy.

That's an unfortunate state of things - both the scatological comparison and the lack of recognition of a great American patriot who stood up to his own party leadership and the Administrator's "mastermind" Carl Rove, whose flawed theories of racial politics exploded in the faces of all Republicans in 2006.
Gonzales is a disgrace and a mediocrity. His sole function in office is to carry out the Administration's scheme of collaborating with Demcorats and RINOs to sell America out to the illegal invaders, the Mexican Government and the corporate interests who profit from cheap foreign labor.

Where did the GOP go?
Partisan hype: If there is one federal agency that should always be squeaky clean, it is the Justice Department. But under Attorney General Alberto Gonzalesthe nations chief law enforcement officeran embarrassing stench has arisen in the department because of the firing of eight U.S. attorneys. Helen Thomas ++ Back in 1993, the media had a different sense of crisis. Clinton fired 93 U.S. Attorneys, and ABC and CBS never mentioned it. CNN and NBC mentioned it in passing. (FNC didnt exist yet.) The media do not merely arrive at the scene of a crisis. They are the manufacturers of crisis. Tim Graham
At least one of the Federal Prosecutors fired by Clinton was working on Whitewater scandal and there was nothing political about his firing?????
No wonder Mickey Mouse gets so many presidential write in votes. At least Mickey is consistent.

Yes they should be ashamed by a backstabber like Tancredo. Loyalty is a two-way street.
Since the establishment has always treated Tancredo & other real conservative Republicans like lepers, Tancredo is merely returning the favor.
He owes the GOP, or the feckless Bush administation, nada.

Did he give Sandy Burglar a wrist slap?
Did he jail two good Border Patrol agents?

Unfortunately, Tom Tancredo is not appealing enough or smart enough to run for President and win not once let alone twice.
I recommend staying home and never voting ever again. Then everyone can have their "Principles" as they cause blanket amnesty to become reality forever.

It is not very difficult for an incumbent to be elected again and again and again when he or she brings pork to their district. Let Tancredo run for Senate seat elections next year and let us see how he will fair. He will be defeated.

Better than moronic third party voters who are bitter all the time because they are too dumb to understand that they cannot win anything. Third-party, where? I don't support 3rd parties unless the GOP candidate is an out-and-out liberal. Last time I looked, Tancredo was still a Republican.
You really need to unlock your lips from the GOP's butt and start thinking for yourself.

Tancredo has huge support among U.S. citizens of Hispanic descent. 2nd and 3rd generation Hispanics loathe our open borders and the fact that illegals are coming here for handouts.
In addition, Tancredo has been a huge supporter of international human rights. He has highlighted poverty conditions in Sierra Leone and other parts of Africa.
He is not the loudmouth, single-issue, racist stereotype that the MSM & GOP has portrayed him to be.
