Since we can't post from the Conservative Voice - you can read it here Hyde endorses Hunter for President
Good on ya for posting it, my FRiend! :-)
A year is a very long time, in this day and age.
There's (plenty) of time to make this work.
Keep banging those drums!!
That's nice. Nothing impressive, though. Henry Hyde is hardly "well known" to the majority of American voters. I don't see this giving Hunter much sway.
Well its' 11:45 a.m here in NYC. I think that time is wrong.
LOL! I think this is a good endorsement for Duncan Hunter. But it looks like the Hunter people are going to dump Hunter for Thompson. I see alot of them hoping for Thompson to run - thats a shame for Hunter. How quickly they turn.
YOu've got it wrong my FRiend.
A lot of Hunter supporters could easily support a Hunter-Thompson ticket with either one at the front of the ticket.
It would be a million times better than Guiliani-McCain or Clinton-Richardson.
I just noticed that the Free Republic posting time isn't adjusted to Daylight Saving Time yet...
I can't imagine why an accomplished Senator would reenter politics to team up with an unknown big spending Republican Congressman, on either end of the ticket.
It would be the gravitas ticket.
The one thing the leading dems, Clinton, Obama, Edwards, and Richardson lack is gravitas.
I would far prefer Thompson, should he run, NOT team up with a Republican with a big spending voting record.
>>Since we can't post from the Conservative Voice<<
Really?
I thought generally the publications we couldn't post from were politically opposed to Freep.
Although I can't say regarding "the Conservative Voice", I do know that there are some so-called conservative sites that have links to racist organizations/beliefs.
>>Although I can't say regarding "the Conservative Voice", I do know that there are some so-called conservative sites that have links to racist organizations/beliefs.<<
Gotcha. And like you, not knowing about that site I'm not saying anything bad about them. But it does make sense that Freep would also have sites they don't want articles from - in addition to those sites that try to stop us from citing articles.
"Well known veteran Congressman, Henry Hyde, has endorsed Duncan Hunter for President. Hyde, a longtime representative from Illinois, calls Hunter one of the most qualified candidates he has seen in his long and illustrious career. I proudly support my good friend and fellow public servant, Duncan Hunter, for the office of President of the United States, said Hyde. Duncan Hunter brings a wealth of experience, great foreign and domestic knowledge, and an energetic spirit to this race for the White House. I like his chances, and I like his platform a lot, noted Hyde."
IT is official Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich not going to Run.
>>
IT is official Fred Thompson and Newt Gingrich not going to Run. <<
Is that official? - aren't we still before the date when Newt said he would decide?
And normally, the way somebody like Thompson would dispel rumors would be to endorse somebody else.
Henry Hyde is extremely well known and respected among conservative activists. That's who will be building grassroots team around the country in the early primaries and caucuses. All Hunter needs to do is pull of one big upset in an early primary and then the public will hear all about him (and like what they see).
Duncan Donut people?
Your hypocrisy astounds. So from now, spared me your moralizing on the Rudy thread. And remove my name from your Rudy ping list as well.
>>I interpreted that comment as sarcasm. Meaning: Hyde endorsement--big deal.
I could be wrong, though.<<
I bet you are right... my wife left this morning for a birthday party and I'm coffee deprived.
Don't get me wrong: If Hunter is a good conservative candidate who can win, that's good, and I'll not knock him. However, I think the Hyde endorsement means almost zero to Hunter, except amongst Hyde-sters, if any of those exist.
If you happened to be around during 1998-99 Henry Hyde was almost 'godlike' around here.
Other congressmen who have endorsed Duncan Hunter are:
Rep. John Culberson (R-Texas)
Rep. Terry Everett (R-Ala.)
Rep. Trent Franks (R-Ariz.)
Rep. Ralph Hall (R-Texas)
Rep. Jim Saxton (R-N.J.)
Rep. Bill Young (R

I tried and I got a message from FR saying we can't post anything from them. I guess the Conservative Voice doesn't like us.
I saw that! Baldwin almost had a stroke.
Henry Hyde endorsing Hunter ~ two great war horses.
Takes one to know one.
"Henry Hyde endorsing Hunter ~ two great war horses."
Most certainly agree, doodlelady! Great admiration for Henry Hyde and Duncan Hunter. They are both staunchly pro-life!!
Still is, to those who value him.
SUPER idea.
REFLECTIONS PROJECT
REP. HENRY HYDE INTERVIEW
JULY 16, 2006 [snip]
DOUGLASS: And do you think there are many statesmen in Congress?
HYDE: I think there are lots of potential statesmen. I think there are some pretty
good people here, really outstanding. Duncan Hunter is a is a man of high
principle [and] courage in a very tough job. Were lucky to have him.

Hmm. I can't quite remember who Hyde is...anyone know?
Henry Hyde - WHAT a great endorsement!
I saw Henry Hyde speak in person re: pro-life!
He even talked with me, when he asked me where the elevator was. :)
If Henry Hyde will do a little traveling and speaking on Mr. Hunter's behalf, he could swing a few primary voters who are undecided. Obviously, those leaning towards Mr. Giuliani or Senator McCain are less likely to change their minds, but those considering other conservative candidates could be swayed.
Bill
Duncan Hunter is the only one I can vote for. He is a strong conservative and that is what we need, not some liberal rhino like some of the others. augh
Thanks for the ping.

That's the important thing. One of the conservative candidates needs to move to the front of the pack.
Thompson, via Fox News Sunday, I will decide by middle of summer.
They are probably ambivalent about this endorsement coming as it does from a know adulterer. After all imperfection disqualifies so many.
Shouldn't you be off somewhere planning your victory parade?
"...the leading dems, Clinton, Obama, Edwards, and Richardson ..." that is Screechy, Sneaky, Girly and Mopey.
Where? Oh where, does such self-righteous certitude come from?? The Pharisees???
>>Thompson, via Fox News Sunday, I will decide by middle of summer.<<
thank you.
Duncan Hunter was just on Hugh Hewitt's show. He presented himself admirably. Don't tell me this fellow doesn't have fire in his belly!
I'm sure Hugh Hewitt will have a transcript tomorrow. He usually does. I look forward to reading it at least since I couldn't hear it. Thanks for the heads up! :-)
