The 9ers are planning to fund their own stadium. They'd be happy to move to Santa Clara. It's the SF government that's having a fit, because they're worried about lost revenues.

That was one of the suggested homes. But the libs don't want the Iowa in any way shape or form. I'm still holding out for Stockton but it doesn't look good.

It's obvious that the mayor will do anything to avoid having the 49ers skip town on his watch. He's turned out to be such a weasel.

It's liberals who have made cleaning up contaminated sites hugely expensive and very time consuming. Tell 'em to shove it.

Why should the Navy do ANYTHING for a city in which hatred of all things military runs rampant?

Also the USS Jeramiah O'Brian (a still functional liberty ship)is berthed in SF, though I am not sure which pier it is at.

Yeah, I was just reading this thread thinking that the Navy should sell the property as is to the highest bidder. Let the new owners be responsible for the cleanup.

Maybe the Navy should suggest Hunter's Point as the new home for USS Iowa. The last time an effort was made to bring Iowa to SF the city counsel made making her a museum celebrating the contributions of gays and lesbians in the military the limiting condition.
No, I'd just as soon see the navy scuttle her than allow her to be brought to SF.

Denise DeBartolo York? Sorry, that was it. I've not paid attention ever since they took over. The team was tanking and it was obvious management didn't care.

Hunter's Point is all wrong for a stadium... My first thought as well. OK, you're going to get 60,000 people in and out of that place...how?

I miss Eddie D.
So do the 49ers and the NFL, but they won't acknowledge that.

I used to do some work at Hunter's Point, back when it was a semi-active Naval Shipyard. I always made sure that I left before dark, and I never, ever stopped to ask directions.

The 49ers are gone. They have no intention of staying in SF. Why should they deal with the BS the city throws at them.
