with the media spin, was there any doubt that these jurors would have ever considered it anything but, to quote chris, a verdict against the iraq war?

Libby verdict puts focus on White House
AP - 2 hours, 23 minutes ago

WASHINGTON - Campaigning in 2000, George Bush promised he would swear on the Bible to restore honor and dignity to a sullied White House and give it "one heck of scrubbing." The conviction of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby gave the White House a scrubbing -- but not the one Bush had in mind. The case laid bare the inner workings of a presidency under siege and the secretive world of Vice President Dick Cheney.

As opposed to being unable to have a dialogue without an echo chamber?

Yes, let us pray for the forgiveness of those who bear false witness.

I'm pretty sure I said "for the truth of the matter." No, I'm positive I did.

The conversations proven at trial were in June and July. He talked to the FBI in October, he testified to the GJ in March.

Are you engaging in a mere hypothetical, or do you have some knowledge of a member of the media who will say Wilson told him/her about his wife at a cocktail party?

Yes, and no it isn't. You are engaging in hyperbole to avoid facts.

It was utterly stupid as a strategy.

I agree and I think he handled this case about as poorly as it could have been handled. Wells is a Democrat, and it appears he was more interested in proving Cheney and the Administration were guilty rather than pleading Libby innocent. He should have gone after Cooper and Russell and shown them for the scoundrels they are. Matthew Cooper wasn't sweating bullets before he appeared before the GJ because he was being honest. If you read a lot of his quotes, it's obvious he was not telling the truth.

If you want to know about the social elites in DC, read "Washington Life Magazine". You'll find a few pictures of Laura Bush performing her duties, but you'll find Mrs. Tim Russert (Maureen Orth), Mrs. Ben Bradlee (Sally Quinn),Mrs. Alan Greenspan (Andrea Mitchell), the Matthew Coopers...his wife being the notorious Mandy Grunwald, and other media elites on the social scene. Knowing how Valerie and Joe Wilson sought the limelight and social position; can you really believe they didn't know these people? I'd be willing to bet that Tim Russert not only knew about the Wilsons' agenda, but he knew and knows Joe Wilson! What goes around comes around, and I hope I live to see some of these people answering for their dishonesty.

you did, but from what i remember in my law class, the truth of the matter was libby lying, not if it was common knowledge about ms. plame, since the testimony would go to that issue, it would be allowed, at least according to my instructors examples of hearsay

if there are any lawyers out there, you can remain anonymous, what about hearsay?

Olberman is cutting his vacation short to interview Joe Wilson tonight.

Former Ambassador Joseph Wilson will join Keith Olbermann tonight for his first cable interview following the guilty verdicts in the trial of I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby.

It was Wilson's wife, CIA Operative Valerie Plame who was outed by administration sources to columnist by Robert Novak, in an attempt to discredit the former ambassador.

Keith comes off his vacation in Florida for this interview and full coverage of the Libby verdicts, on Countdown tonight... 8pm ET/5pm PT

Correct. He wasn't actually charged with the leak, which is a much more serious offense.

I can only hope that a new trial will allow Libby his constitutional right to face his accuser

so how'd you do in evidence? The 'truth of the matter' is the truth of the hearsay statement. Regardless of the charges, or claims in a civil case. Hearsay statements are inadmissible to prove the truth of the statement, unless they fall into some exception. Richard Armitage saying Joe Wilson told other reporters his wife worked for the CIA doesn't fall into any of those exceptions in this trial.

And if it were proven that Joe Wilson told a bunch of reporters about Plame, then that would help bolster Libby's testimony that this is where he learned it.

But not-yet-lawyers and keyboard lawyers seem to gloss over an important point. Scooter Libby and his defense fund likely paid Wells at least a few hundred thou for this trial. IF Wilson telling reporters about his wife was helpful to the defense, and IF it happened, they'd know about it. I don't recall a single proffer of a witness to show that anyone other than SAOs told reporters about Plame's wife. If they all knew about her, why is this? You think they are all in on a conspiracy to deny that any of them knew pre-Scooter?

Occam's Razor. It usually makes a straight cut.
