That's right: he profits from polluting the planet with the fossil fuel that contributes to alleged global warming and then he turns right around and profits AGAIN from paying himself for using the fossil fuel he's supposed to shun. The Green Evangelists are any thing but examples of parsimonious conduct. There's nothing to admire or like about how they lecture to others to live on less while they can consume as much as they want.

"I don't think hydropower should be counted because after the initial construction is paid off, the power is effectively free" Not true....
Big contributor to global warming is all the methane etc that bubbles up from the rotting forests and other vege matter beneath the new lake upstream from the dam.

So Al can buy his carbon offsets from himself. Better yet, he can buy them with the money he gets from his long-time relationship with Occidental Petroleum. See how easy it is to be carbon-neutral? All you have do is own a gazillion stocks in Big Oil, start an eco-stockbroking firm to make eco-friendly investments, use a small portion of your oil company's profits to buy some tax-deductible carbon offsets from your own investment firm, and you too can save the planet while making money and leaving a carbon footprint roughly the size of Godzilla's at the start of the movie when they're all standing around in the little toe wondering what the strange depression in the landscape is.Doesn't sound like your hero Algore is doing much to bring back those glaciers after all. The phoney-baloney Reverend Al has been exposed. (And THAT isn't a pretty picture...)
Time for your daily dose of Kool-Aid - isn't it?

What you say is true, but the "Carbon Offset" con men are advertising hydropower as a green power source.

I would be glad to help but I have already printed out my carbon offset certificates for the year. I feel much better about myself and slept like a baby the last couple of nights. I also turned up the thermostat so I can lounge in front of the TV in shorts without getting a chill. Life is good thanks to the invention of the carbon offset.
To: Tom D.
I just checked out "Carbon Credits" on eBay.
Yes, indeed, you can buy them there! Apparently there are "certified" individuals out there making a big profit on this scam.
You can purchase for about $10.00 a ton.

The Clintons are not half as smart as this guy. Or, perhaps, not as smart as the guys who are using Algore to run their own eco-scam.
Algore was never the sharpest knife in the drawer -- a quality which qualified him to be Clinton's Veep. So, it's easy to see him, not as the author of this particular scam, but as the obtuse dolt who is being manipulated by others.
