Agreed!
I'm still ticked at Guiliani for his last minute drop-out of the race against Hillary in 2000 -- with his excuse being he had 'prostate cancer.'
Please dont consider me coldhearted, but I watched Rudy closely in the weeks and months following his dropout (as poor Rick Lazio was floundering against the Clinton mud-sling machine) and Rudy hardly convalasced more than a few weeks, if that.
He still made public appearances even during the campaign, I seem to recall, and resumed his NYC Mayoral job with such vigor that he was declared "America's Mayor" just months later following the 9/11 terror attacks.
He ALSO was virile enough to get re-married around then, if memory serves me correct.
Hardly the actions of a man who is so so so sick he dropped out of what, besides the Presidential race, was the biggest election in the country.
Besides, even if one does have prostate surgery, it is a one-day operation, and a week or two on the mend, is it not. (again, please dont consider me calluous)
I believe, until someone proves me wrong, which they cant, that Rudy was AFRAID of going up against Hillary in overwhelming Democratic New York.
Instead he remained as NYC's Mayor, where he certainly did a fabulous job, but he also allowed the Hildebeast to waltz into national politics virtually unscathed ---- and LOOK at where we are now.
Like I said, I'm STILL seething mad at Guiliani for wimping out of that NY Senate race.
Let Stevens or Ginsburg retire, and let Dubya appoint one more justice, and CFR will be DOA...
"Hold on a minute. Fred Thompson just announced he's considering a run at the Presidency!!!"
And I just heard on FOX this morning that Alan Keyes is also considering another run!!! It's beginning to get crazy!
Mormons believe the priesthood was limited for a time to certain groups but is now open (to all males). The Bible did the same thing. Is God racist for not allowing all people to hold the priesthood? In the OT only the levitical tribe could hold it. Was that racist to the other tribes of Israel? In the NT Christ's mortal ministry was to the House of Israel. Non Israelites (ie other races) groups, peoples were not preached to during his mortal ministry. Does that make Jesus racist towards say historic Japanese people such as the Ainu Tribes for "excluding" them? After Christ's death Paul receives a Revelation to open the gospel to an Ethiopian. Mormons believe in the same manner of Revelation as Paul. At one time the priesthood in the Mormon church was limited and then extended by Revelation to include all men.
Do you advocate the priesthood for women as the quote you cite says? I do not feel it is discriminatory towards women that they do not hold the priesthood.
I have heard other allegations about Racism and the Book of Mormon (without sourced quotes of course, another lib tactic, self righteous proclamation of "Youre Racist" without using quotes). I generally answer that the BoM must be reverse racist because the "darkies" kill all the "Whitey's" in the end.
Brigham Young's statement was a common belief among many Christians of his era. (Joseph Smith ordained blacks to the priesthood). If he in fact beleived blacks were inferior to whites he was wrong. Like Moses was wrong when he took credit for striking the rock.
I am not African American but have personally know many mormons who are. (Then there is Gladys Knight). Many Black Mormons are able to reconcile their belief with BY's statements.

Mitt Romney and Duncan Hunter definitely see eye-to-eye on the issue of border security. Romney strongly supports extending the security fencing at the U.S.-Mexico border specified in the legislation written by Rep. Hunter and approved by Congress.
Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was named as Honorary Chair for the Romney for President campaign in Arizona this week. Sheriff Arpaio, better known as "Americas Toughest Sheriff", has gained a nationwide reputation for his tough stance on crime, illegal immigration and border security in the nation's fourth largest county.
There are more details about Gov. Romney's record and plans for addressing illegal immigration in my FR profile under the Immigration section for your review.
...Uhh to eat
IMO, Any conservative worth their salt understands the need for food and water storage -officially endorsed by the Church, and gun and ammunition storage -officialy endorsed by me. ;-)
More info. about Mormons and food storage are a click away. Emergency prepardness is important not just for Natural Weather Disasters but personal family crises such as a job loss for many months. I know Mormons who ahve personally weathered job loss "storms" by utilizing food storage.
The Katrina relief the Mormon church donated is possible becuase of the Church's excellent welfare system, which is the best of any in the world. The US govt. could go a long way if it adopted the "Mormon" way of doing welfare.
Another case in point was the Serb/Bosnian war in the 90's. Mormons in Germany were told to take in refugee families into their homes and to use their food storage to help offset the cost of caring for another family. Thomas S. Monson (Apostle) gave a good talk about it.
This is the best site as it has a how to section on Family Home Storage www.providentliving.org

Hmmm...an interesting choice. I don't think they are incompatible on any major point of political ideology (not sure). Viewing it very pragmatically, I'm not sure what Bolton would bring to the ticket to help out in the Electoral vote count. I'm doubtful that Bolton would help carry any state(s) that wouldn't already be Romney's.
A solid conservative with military and/or foreign policy experience from the South, would be the best fit for VP in my opinion. We can claim that Duncan Hunter is from south California, can't we? :-)
I'd like to announce that I will NOT be running for President. Although I feel I have the qualifications and would make an outstanding President (hey who am I kidding IMHO I'd be thought of as the greatest President of all time), I feel that at this time I can best serve the Republic by sitting on the sidelines and making snide and sarcastic remarks.
I read the speech and liked it very much. I recommend it to all:

Thanks for the info.
I find the history of mormons interesting. The history of the inferiority of blacks on mormon leaders was something that I found interesting. No doubt the entire country had to go through some turbulent times to rectify the racist past. But I put this to you my friend, in Jesus day, he would have never accepted racisim, or indifference to women as many religions have carried forward in his name. Thus his statement to peter to eat (preach to) the so-called 'unclean' animals at that time. It has taken our civilized nation hundreds of years to acknowledge this.
In any event, the upcoming election is not about historical issues. It is about where do we go from here. Romney says all the right things. If he is the nominee, I hope he picks a person as VP from the southern states. It can only help his chances.
He's a loser.
I was under the impression that as president he could just sign a law that repealed an old law. I was under the impression that the scotus decision just said that mccain feingold was okay as it, not ala roe v wade, "this is the law of the land" sort of thing.
Thanks for the text for those of us with dial up.
I agree that Romney is the best of what now is considered the "top three". It is really early though, and a great deal can happen between now and next February! I really expect Hunter to make gains and who knows who else will end up in the mix? Heard this morning on FOX that Alan Keyes is considering another run. Where that came from I don't know.
Have heard nothing more about him or Thompson since! We just have to wait and see what happens! :)
I've written many times before that Americans are very likely to mount a fierce backlash against any person or group attempting to turn our U.S. elections into a religious jihad involving foolish and hurtful assertions that "our Jesus is better than their Jesus" whether the bigotry comes from the Left or the Right.
Mitt Romney faced a heckler and religious bigot in a community meeting in Florida on 2/17/07. The reaction of the crowd to the heckler (booed him out of the room) and then the reaction of the crowd to Romney's response (standing ovation) were priceless.
Don't miss this video of the incident if you haven't seen it already.
This is encouraging, and indicates that Romney may be able to overcome flip-flopping charges over time.
For those who support him, it's better that he face the charges now rather than later.
CPAC ping
Romney knows that will be thrown his way. I think he has to emphasize his life at always as treating others as equals. He can't attempt to explain the past, he has to state what is now. But engaging in a religous discussion is a recipe for disaster. I think he should however discuss his values not his religion which clearly most people don't agree with.
A Southern would be awesome. Huckabee would be fantastic balance, but can that beat a Hillary/Obama ticket? I hate identity politics but in this race it has to be considered. Adding Condi or a Colin Powell, who are more qualified than Obama to be President, to the ticket is probably the best choice.
AMEN!!! I'm a Texan and a Republican but Rick Perry is an empty suit. What a disappointment.
