SELL, SELL!!
...suckers born every minute....
If I eat a lot of chili, can my colon apply for a small business loan?
Smithfield Ham signed onto this. They've been under attack by environmentalists, and I'm sure they felt like this was a way to placate them. I guess the key is to make a commitment which you can meet.
I predict the bottom will fall out of this tulip bulb market very soon.
Who could blame Chicagoans for wanting to exchange their climate? Even Greenland's climate would be preferable. I mean, .......oh, nevermind.
But then I realized, that I'm much too honest to clip people who'll believe anything they're told.
I got me 12 old cars up on blocks around my trailerhouse (which also ain't got no heat or air conditioner) and I figure I should be able to sell all them there "carbon credits" from these cars and such. Who is supposed to send me the check? Do I gotta send 'em pictures or something?
ROFLLLLLLLLLLLL
This will be the new method to "take from those who produce, to give to those that don't". The New Communism.
The UN and various international types have been talking up the possibility that this kind of thing might become required. Like all flavors of communism, it won't work without government power.
Billions of dollars are at stake. I'm sure the traders are already counting their growth potential. The Lawyers will be readying for disputes. Capitalism twisted into a tool for the communists, with Green excuses this time, rather than helping the proletariat.
My broker changes the subject when I ask "How are my tulip bulb futures going?"
Hey, Washington State Freepers....did you know KING COUNTY is a member of the Chicago Climate Exchange? See the list at the link above.
I'am giving all my carbon credits to the next FreeperThon!!!!...
Woo hoo!! Way to go GitmoSailor!!
LOL! Good to see you, Gotmo Sailor!
Gore is a founder of and the chairman of Generation Investment Management LLC.
He reportedly buys his carbon credit offsets from Generation Investment Management. Neat, huh?
I mean GITMO ------ LOL!
This whole thing doesn't make any sense.
If libs want to be carbon neutral, well first of all they can't be, they're carbon based life forms, but if they want to pretend to be carbon neutral they stop exhaling.
They can inhale all they want, though.
If you ask me (and, no one did), this sounds less like "big green" and more like "big scam", "big fraud", "big baga BS"!! Of couse, it doesn't surprise me that a master scammer like Gore would be caught up in this.
Just how much is a Carbon Credit worth??????......Where can I sell them??????......Who will buy them????.......Are Carbon Credits a new Al Gore Joke??????.... I want answers!!!...
"Just how much is a Carbon Credit worth??????......Where can I sell them??????......Who will buy them????.......Are Carbon Credits a new Al Gore Joke??????.... I want answers!!!..."
For that rant, you owe me 50 credits!
Two Lithiums?
But, seriously, folks... Maybe we should start replacing the Presidents on our currency with periodic chart elements, and convert our economy to trading carbon elements.

Just wait till the government lays a heavy tax on the type of car you drive, how much you drive and how much electricity you use...add that to the Universal Health Care Tax....You ain't goin nowhere...
Will they buy my farts?
Glad you are still my Mentor.Have not been to active lately. So just what are Carbon Credits????...
Many of these companies have already made reductions in "carbon" because of the clean air act. They were required to use Best Available Control Technology when they installed a new power plant or plant process. If they burned coal they switched to natural gas. These controls were for NOx and Sulfur Dioxide...it just so happens that they will also be producing less CO2. I don't see any company on the list that would be forced to pay, but I'll keep looking. Many of these companies made reductions in the late 1990's or maybe a bit later. Many of these companies have exemptions for some of their "carbon" just because they have the newest technology.
Here's a good question for ya: Who decides who gets exempted? These people are banking that they will have a choice and that they will all make money because they got in early. These people are speculating and actively lobbying congress for their type of carbon trading.
I am sure that Algore is probably buying up land so that his peon mexican labor can plant trees on it or something.
This must be some kind of Nigerian scam.
To late!!!!..... I allready Donated all to Free Republic!!!...
LOL!!! I missed that one in my list of scams.
I've been sick for a week, Gitmo Sailor. I've missed you!!!
How much are they worth???????............
I have no idea what they're worth. Over my pay grade.
If he buys carbon credits from the same company that pays him a salary for selling carbon credits does that make him carbon credit neutral?
Don't worry...you can't get in the market unless you are a member and pay a modest fee of around 300K and have a net worth over 11 million or so.
Carbon is trading around $4 per metric ton of CO2.
This is just one big Scam!!!!!.....HOW MUCH ARE CARBON CREDITS WORTH PERIOD??? !!!!! Anybody?
Sure is...his company is paying some farmer around 200K to sit on his land and not plow it so he can sequester carbon for them. They buy all his "sequestered carbon" for pennies on the dollar and then trade it to morons at $3 to $4...some say this may go as high as $30 to $40...then they make out like the POS lying bandits that they are. Oh yeah...they make about a nickel on the trade coming and going out of the exchange too for good measure.
About as much as food for oil.
Lugar Farm is first in Indiana to provide carbon sequestration offsets on the Chicago Climate Exchange
Thursday, May 18, 2006
U.S. Sen. Dick Lugars Marion County farm is the first in Indiana to participate in the Chicago Climate Exchange.
Audio comments from the press conference are available at http://src.senate.gov/lugar/radio/ and via telephone at 1-800-545-1267; press 407 for the Lugar mailbox.
I am pleased to announce that the Lugar Stock Farm has enrolled as an offset provider in the Chicago Climate Exchange. The Lugar Stock Farm is an active corn, soybean, and hardwood tree farm in Marion County, Indiana. Our farm will be the first in Indiana to enroll in this important exchange. I am hopeful that farmers in Indiana and elsewhere will investigate the possibility of enrolling in the exchange. This not only will encourage the practice of sequestering carbon, it will provide an additional source of farm income to those who qualify, said Lugar.
...As a Hoosier farmer, I seek ways to ensure the economic productivity of our farming operation. I utilize risk management tools such as federal crop insurance and commodity markets, and I seek ways to add value to the products grown on our land. Nearly 20 years ago, I began converting about 200 of the 604 acres on our farm to hardwood trees. As these majestic trees grow, they absorb and store carbon from the air around Indianapolis. Increasingly, the global community is recognizing the potential perils of climate change. The ability of farmers and others to remove carbon from the atmosphere and store it through methods such as tree farming and no-till planting are an important part of the solution, Lugar said.
..The Lugar Stock Farm has entered into a binding contract with the Chicago Climate Exchange to provide offset carbon credits, or carbon that entities may want to use to mitigate or offset the amount of greenhouse gasses they may produce. Based on our management practices, tree age, tree density, and other factors, the Chicago Climate Exchange estimates that our farm will capture about 3,400 metric tons of carbon in these trees. Instead of selling these offset credits directly to specific generators of carbon, the Chicago Climate Exchange operates as a market discovery mechanism similar to corn and soybean markets where willing buyers and sellers transact business based on commodity prices. The Lugar Stock Farm maintains legal ownership of these offset credits until a market decision is made to sell them on the exchange. Yesterday, carbon credits were trading at $3.50 per metric ton. Additionally, our farm is responsible for reporting any loss of trees, or the addition of trees, to ensure that carbon is being stored. Similar situations now involve U.S. livestock operations and no-till farmers, continued Lugar.
Heres the address for the whole statement.

Yes it is, but don't worry your electric rates should go up at least 25% in the near future.
If you don't believe me just look at what is happening in Europe.
Or...even in the US where some companies are pushing this early.

By the way...I'm pretty sure that TECO Energy has the highest electric rates in Florida right now.
So.....Every time I Don't mow my lawn I gain Carbon Credits?Who will by my grass clippngs when the city makes me mow my lawn?
One more time!!!!.... How much are Carbon Credits worth????..Who will buy them?????....Anybody???...
Where do I register to get in on this action?
My plan is to sell carbon credits and when someone buys them, I'll get my pellet gun out and stealthily shoot out "extra" street lamps - thus saving electricity.
:-)
Most companies are "banking" their credits right now or they hand over $300K in credits to the exchange to join at market price of course. They sell them to banks and investment companies. BTW, I don't think this is a complete list on their site. I don't see Lehman brothers or Goldman Sachs and I pretty sure they are members.
The CCX exchange closed at $4.05 per metric ton of CO2 today.
I don't know. I have no idea. :0)
Please Post a picture of a metric ton of CO2 before I send you $4.05......
No....just makes him an EXCELLENT Scam Arteest.....he buys carbon credits from the company he runs...and gets "credits", and also Probably gets TAX CREDITS for Selling them to HIMSELF!
