Rocky Anderson is the new Cindy Sheehan.
Salt Lake City's mayor is becoming a national anti-war protester, just like the Texas resident who lost her son in the Iraq conflict. Anderson spoke at a rally in Washington, D.C., last month and he will testify Thursday in support of a Washington state resolution urging Congress to investigate and, possibly, impeach President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
"I'm interested in doing absolutely everything we can to heighten the awareness of the American people of how this president and his administration have brought our country to probably the lowest moral point in our history," the Democratic mayor said Tuesday, saying Bush has violated constitutional rights and international treaties. "If impeachment is not appropriate under these circumstances, I can't imagine a case where it would be." Democratic Washington Sen. Eric Oemig is sponsoring the impeachment resolution and invited Anderson to speak. The resolution asks Congress to see if there is sufficient evidence to charge Bush and Cheney, and if so, to impeach them. "Washingtonians want to know how we got into Iraq, and they want to ensure that something like this never, ever happens again," Oemig said in a news release when he introduced the resolution earlier this month. The resolution accuses the president of providing Congress and Americans "distorted" intelligence to make the case for the Iraq invasion, squandering taxpayer money on the war, conducting electronic surveillance of Americans without warrants and using the ''enemy combatant'' status to "strip American citizens of their constitutional rights."

Just another aging hippie.
"...the lowest moral point in our history." Huh?
It seems that Rocky has never heard of William Jefferson Clinton.
What a magnificent putz.
But, Hillary isn't President yet, is she?
Sheehan is still around? I haven't heard anything about her lately. I thought she overdosed on granola and psych meds.
The funny thing is the Salt Lake Tribune thinks they're oh so up to date and politically correct.
Goes without saying.
Look at a map if you want to know how we got into Iraq, you stupid moron.
I can't stand Rocky. Can't wait to boo him again on the 17th at the St. Patrick's Day Parade. This will be the 3rd year in a row I've booed him to his face.
The mayor is a dumbazz liberal. We all know that liberals have as much use for brains, as fish do for the desert.
Liberals now like to say how the world hates us. Ten years ago they didn't love us. They just loved to laugh at us.
Go to Murphy's Bar and Grill on Main Street. Even the very liberal union workers who hang out there have serious problems with him. I go to Murphy's when in SLC just for the fun of making fun.
Trouble in your region, ping
Is Crazy Cindy a Texas resident? I thought she only owned a couple of acres without improvements outside of Crawford.
No surprise. Rocky's a complete moonbat and has been since day one.
Binger - do you know if anyone (in Utah) is planning to be in DC in the 17th?
This guy needs a brain transplant!
Are any Utah FReepers (or others) planning on attending The Gathering of Eagles (see also FR Threads) on March 17th in DC?
If so, let's get organized.
Could you give him the finger for me??
The resolution asks Congress to see if there is sufficient evidence to charge Bush and Cheney, and if so, to impeach them.
Moonbat logic.
1. He broke the law! Enforce the law! The law says so!! Off with his head!
2. Hey, did he break the law? He did break the law right? If he broke the law i want him crucified! He didn't break the law? Oh sorry, never mind.
3. OK, 3 verses of Kumbaya and we make up a new law!
Gaaaa, I'm so embarrassed. At least we have Huntsman running the real show, and Rocky as the sideshow.
With pleasure!
We are thinking about making the trip to DC. Anybody else going?
We are thinking about it. We should start a caravan or something.
When are you planning on leaving? I would be interested in going and have family in the DC area where we could spend the night at, if need be (assuming they give me permission).
he looks like the principal in Breakfast Club. "You mess with the bull, you get the horns!"
Would LOVE to go; but no money left over since I was so sick.
You are right on target. Rocky Anderson is an embarrassment to Utah. He thinks he represents the enlightened minds of Utah, when he just represents a fraction from Salt Lake City. I'm really glad he is not running again for mayor of Salt Lake City. Too bad the Republican party keeps shooting itself in the foot when they pick a Republican mayoral candidate. Last time Rocky ran, the Republicans supported another Democrat because they thought he could defeat Rocky. Perhaps Enid Greene will do a better job than Joe Cannon did.
Why do the Utah Repubs pick the idiots they do? Party politics. Remember when Prozac Mike Leavitt worked his fraud at the convention when he was going to lose renomination for the governor's seat? Ol' Prozac Mike grew the State Govt at 3 times the rate of population growth. Some conservative. The last fiscally responsible Gevernor was Scott Matheson and he was a frigging Democrat.
I don't even want to think of Anderson's corrupt predecesor, Didi. SLC switched from a stock scammer to an ACLU babykiller/gungrabber.
Why do we have to have so many granola crunchers in SLC? Drive up by the U and you'd think you were in Berkeley.
Yeah, I was ready to say shut up and box.
The elitist Mormon haters in the core of SLC think all Republicans are the same. We live most of the time in Mt. Carmel, so we don't know any strong Republicans in SLC. There are some very fine Conservatives that are Democrats. Most of them are just like us, however, many have this strange Mormon hatred. It will only get worse in my opinion as it seems like there are no Repub leaders in the City strong enough to win.
These people are so stupid that, if their deranged logic were taken seriously and acted upon, we would have to impeach the entire House and Senate, who legally authorized the war in Iraq with access to the same intelligence reports that the POTUS and V-POTUS had.
