That is reason enough for conservatives to have a reality check. Do we really have faith in a Rudy, McCain, Romney with a Demonrat Congress? I don't think so! They would push their gun control, etc. and the blame would really rest with Republicans. I think Duncan Hunter is the right kind of man to put forward to the public and wake them up from the liberal propaganda they've been getting a steady dose of. Reagan was great at getting through and I see Hunter as just as great in ability to communicate and make the case. He comes across well as people like him.

Do you really think gun control is a hot issue today - good lord - even the democrats don't talk about it any more.

Maybe you should read about HR1022 which was just introduced, by a Democrat, this year. It will permanently reinstate the Assault Weapons Ban and includes far more firearms than before. It also gives judges the the authority to add to it at will.

Ok - I will do my homework.

Thank you for guiding me to the legislation - I do appreciate it.

I don't care about he history. I worry that these pictures will embolden the terrorists and make our country look ridiculous if Giuliani is president.

I wanted to read more about this event. The phrasing the woman used, that the "best thing" would be to go back to Mexico, made me curious. If the woman is an illegal immigrant who is already afoul of our laws, then what is the benefit to her of placing herself in further jeopardy and trying to negotiate a court system where she probably does not speak the language, has no money for representation, and, presumably, limited family support. Frankly, the best thing probably would be for her to go back to her homeland, especially if doing so would get her children away from their abuser.

How far can I shoot a .50 cal rifle?
The effective range for a good .50 cal rifle is about 2500 meters or 2734 yards. (You will need a good scope to see anything that far away.)
The maximum distance the round will go is about 4 1/2 to 5 miles. Always be sure what is behind your target !

I am the Freeper dirtboy was speaking of, and you know me from these boards for quite a while, as I know you. Believe me--this is the story:

I had two pistol CARRY permits (one obtained in '81 and one obtained in '83). It took six months to get the first, the second was immediate. I had legitimate need to carry in NYC, and renewed every two years on my birthday through the Dinkins and Koch administrations. No problem. When Rudy got there, he made every law-abiding citizen with a legal permit jump through hoops to get renewed. Sjackson posted numbers on this--in 1980 there were 30,000 legal carry permit holders in NYC; in 2001 a little over 3,000. Rudy is a gun grabber of the worst kind.
