Fox News ^ | 2/19/07 | Sevenbak

(BEGIN VIDEO CLIP)

MITT ROMNEY, GOP PRESIDENTIAL HOPEFUL: I think in my view, the people of America want a person of faith to lead the country. They can look at my wife and me and my family, they can see that our faith has made us better people, better Americans, and we share the values of the other citizens of this great land.

(END VIDEO CLIP)

BURNS: That was former Massachusetts Republican Governor responding to a question about media focus on his religion. Romney said this week he's running for president, but on the day of his announcement, he woke up to see this headline on the front page of USA Today: "Will Mormon faith hurt bid for White House?"

Jim, let's pretend that's a question asked of you...Click on link for full article.

They are trying to get the Christians to mix it up with Romney so that they can call them bigots.

Because he's a Republican and has a chance (albeit a very slim one) of becoming President.

Harry Reid is also a Mormon. There's hardly a peep about his religion from the MSM.

I'd rather my President had SOME real faith rather than a faking, teary-eyed dude with a Bible. I would also prefer his middle-name NOT be Hussein.

I'm no Romney fan but it is a good question. Frankly I would love to hear what Harry Reid has to say about it.

Because a Mormom President is something that's never happened before. And little is known about them among the Washington Press Corps.

After Jimmy Carter was elected, there was a silly sitcom called "Carter Country" due to curiousity about southern life during the 1970's. If Romney is elected, will there be a sitcom about Mormon life?

"Divide and conquer."

Indeed! The drive by media wants it to be an issue, they say it's an issue, and therefore it is an issue. No matter how untrue it is.

Personally, I do not support Romney in the primaries, but it has nothing to do with his faith.

I think part of it has to do with the recent history of the Mormons. Their founder is part of recent US history, claimed an archangel directed him.

Mormons say Indians are a lost tribe of Israelis, DNA results notwithstanding, blacks can make into heaven as slaves and of course there is the holy undies.

But my biggest concern in my travels to Salt Lake City is the lack of a sense of humor in them. They are polite people but there's this weird lack of humor.

Romney sounds like a fine executive and deserves a hearing on his own merits, holy underwear and/or hand grenade notwithstanding.

MSM can say "Will Mormon faith hurt bid for White House?", but they can NOT say "Muslim crazy kills 5 in Salt Lake City".

Somebody explain it to me, please.

Will Obama's Muslim faith/background hurt his chances for the White House?

Will Hillary's Marxist faith hurt her chances for the White House?

The Democrats have abandoned the Constitution as to resistive and since it prohibits religous tests, they wish to impose the same through fear and prejudice.

True, you never hear one word from the media questioning his Mormon standing.

That's because he sold out any values a long time ago in land deals and political lying.

You can't get anywhere in the Dhimmiecrat Party today if you don't match the values of Bill Clinton, their idol.

If Jim Jones were still alive and running there
would be a little concern, at least by some.

I admit that their sense of humor is not yours or mine, I hope that none of my four or five thousand Mormon relatives read this and figure out my screen name.

I hope more people get a laugh from your post. One guy told me that a buddy of his has his women all set up. And he doesn't have any princely sum of money. He's a cop and has his womenz working.

Now that's what I call law and order.

A few Question(s) that is somewhat related to this topic:

If memory serves, the candidate that wins the NH primary usually doesn't go on to win the nomination--something of a kiss of death. Anyone have any stats on this, I can't seem to find them?

Further, could the nomination hinge on the South Carolina primary? I don't know how optimistic I would be about Romney or Ms. Guliani winning that primary, so could this leave the door open for guys like Hunter or (God forbid!) McCain?
