Clinton Objects to Confederate Flag

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that South Carolina should remove the Confederate flag from its Statehouse grounds, in part because the nation should unite under one banner while at war.
"I think about how many South Carolinians have served in our military and who are serving today under our flag and I believe that we should have one flag that we all pay honor to, as I know that most people in South Carolina do every single day," Clinton told The Associated Press in an interview.
"I personally would like to see it removed from the Statehouse grounds," the New York senator said during her first trip to the early voting state since announcing her White House bid.
Other Democratic hopefuls, including Sens. Joe Biden and Chris Dodd, have said the flag should come down. The banner, which once flew over the Statehouse dome and now flies nearby, is the subject of an ongoing NAACP boycott.
Clinton is one of several Democrats to draw huge crowds during campaign stops in the state, but she said during the interview that her party will have a tough time winning in GOP-heavy South Carolina
"I think it's going to be hard for any Democrat to carry the state," she said. "The Republican Party is very strong here."
Earlier in the day, Clinton spoke to more than 1,500 people gathered at Allen University, a historically black college in Columbia.

Im sorry but dont we already have a NATIONAL flag? Shes an idiot.
And if her party has it their way, it will be a white one.
She is actually a bigger idiot than I had imagined, which was quite large.
Boy oh boy, is that ever rich.
THIS WOMAN GETS DUMBER EVERY DAY!
Why doesn't she just keep quiet about things that do not concern her in the least?
And I personally would like war protesting ex-hippy pacifist bastards to quit sniping at the President while we're at war, senator.
She will say anything won't she and people fall for it every time.
I think that HRC has stepped into a big, steaming pile on this one. You see, those against the Stars & Bars will already vote for Her Wickedness, but there are a whole lot of proud Southerners who can be easily motivated to vote with such a statement out in the public than without it. She probably just cost her party a few hundred thousand votes.
So is she saying that in peacetime, then it would be ok to have the Confederate flag displayed? It's only because of the war going on that it should be removed?
But she promised to end this war in January 2009. So is she saying that she would approve of the Confederate flag coming back when she ends this war?
And going around telling them to take the flag down is going to change that how?
>And if her party has it their way, it will be a white one.

Red, more like it.
Why is she always so angry?
I'm hoping some brilliant person in South Carolina gives Hillary a good history lesson.
A Hunter spokesman, Roy Tyler, said his boss thinks South Carolinians should decide the issue, adding the congressman thinks the flag is fine where it flies.
'We're talking about history here,' Tyler said. 'We don't think we should be slapping anybody's history in the face.'
Doesn't make ANY sense, does it.
Anytime/everytime someone even remotely mentions Hilllllary, I always ask them why does she seem so angry. I chuckle at the excuses and apologies they make for her. I crack myself up sometimes.......
Thats what i've been wondering
Well it always was a Democrat flag so purging it must be important for the Party. After all the Party started flying it over the capitol in the first place.
I object to hillary.
She wants us under her flag - the hammer and sickle one!
She wants to make sure she gets the negro vote.
And BTW, you DO know she's playing the "victim" with regards to responsibility of her Senate vote on Iraq, right? It's what Dem's do well - play victim.
Another example: Poor mealy-mouthed Edwards is building the largest single-family housing complex in the county; he's a helpless victim of North Carolina's blight.
Good... the more she speaks her 'mind'... the better!
She embraced the symbolism when she was |cough| "First Lady"
|/cough| of Arkansas.
She wasn't speaking of the State flag.
She's gotta know that the Democrats won't take the state in the general election. She must be pandering for the primary.
Someone should tell her: MYOBB
whore
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... this nation has been united for how long? Did they not learn any history?
And what Governor of Arkansas made the Saturday before Easter "Confederate Flag Day"?
Why didn't someone in the press attending ask her views on burning the American flag!
..and the necklace
Indeed
"A woman spurned"?
I guess she is confident she will win without carrying any of the states from the South.
Then again, OTOH, she might not have much to say...
Dems....always creating agitation and divisions any chance they get. It's what they live off of.
Ah, well then, States rights. Let the folks in SC work that out for themselves.
You are correct. She is an idiot.
Hmmmm. Give up a piece of your history and have sneering bigoted outsiders determining state policies, or give up Hillary. Think, think....must decide...

Or a flag with a swastika on it.
Did they ask her if SC should take down its state flag, too?
