You know, I think Ann is on to something, although Canada publicly was nuetral, it sure helped out a lot.

Great link for information here.:http://archives.cbc.ca/IDD-1-71-1413/conflict_war/vietnam/

The whole sentence from the from the website youngjim posted:

"At the time Vietnam was considered a friendly state by Canada (very ironic since they allowed and encouraged the business sector to manufacture and supply war materials to south Vietnam and the Canadian government itself supplied over 27 million dollars in financial aid to South Vietnam), making it illegal to serve in the U.S. armed forces.

Selective quotes are bad form, sir.

Providing supplies is not the same thing as sending troops, which is what AC sayed Canada had done.

Anne Coulter is a fine person to speak for the conservative party.
Ms. Coulter has a head on her shoulder which she uses intelligently.
Nancy Polose is speaker of the house. She is the third person in line for the presidency.
Polose does not know how long we have been fighting in Iraq.
She is a mother, grandmother and perhaps great-grandmother. Did not any of the children teach her arithmetic?
Anne Coulter writes a newspaper column and appears on talk shows.
Nancy Polose is in Congress and is a Mrs. Malaprop, except Polose is not a comic she MEANS what she says, to the nation.

You may have not seen evidence of a conservative movement in 2000, I sure did. GWB betrayed that movement, time and time again, and for what. Did you see any evidence of support for his big spending policies from the left. They ridiculed him, they made him the butt of their jokes and his ever leftist accomodations were met with unbridled hatred. He was and yet remains so dense that he still thinks he can gain some kind of approval from the leftist politicians and their media by further accommodations. I simply cannot understand this man but I know that he has damaged the conservative movement which without some kind of miracle will never see the presidency or a congressional majority again in my limited lifetime.

"Atlas Shrugged" by Ayn Rand and "Treason" by Ann Coulter were the two books that had the largest influence on me political wise.

I'm sure these two books are absolutely detested by the leftists in the USA.

I don't think Ann knows about Romney's past statements in 1994 when he ran for election - he believes in a woman's right to choose, in equal rights for gays and lesbians, including the right to serve as a leader in the Boy Scouts, and in affirmative action. He (Romney) even says he's more liberal than Ted Kennedy on gay rights.

Is the GOP scraping the bottom of the barrel to find politicians like this? More liberal than TED KENNEDY???

Scene: heavy wood paneled cocktail lounge, D.A. relaxing in leather wing chair, stunning blonde in sapphire evening dress.

-SNIP-

Judith: Oh come on Arthur, people love me.

Arthur: And I'm sure some people love spiders, too.

Judith: They eat flies, don't they?

Arthur: And we know what flies eat.

Judith: Very good [nod]... I just love the old joust.

Arthur: I just came here to enjoy my scotch and newspaper... alone.

Judith: Now Arthur, let's not pretend we're not on the same side of the ideological fence...

Arthur: Ideology is one thing. Hyperbole is another.

Judith: Please, all I do is make boring conservative talking points entertaining so hopefully someone actually listens to them.

Arthur: No, all you do is make people madder than a hound dog with a head cold so that along the way, they miss the message completely.

Judith: I've got four number one bestsellers, Arthur. How many does Antonin Scalia have?

Arthur: [nodding] ...and you also look better in a cocktail dress.

Judith: I'd better go... I wouldn't want your voting public to think we were actually friends.

This article reads like it's several months old. Still, it's been a while since the Ann-haters had a chance to spew their lies. Numerous Canadians did join the US Army and fight in Vietnam.

Thanks for these posts.

SoldierMedic sez: "Canada didn't send troops, people in Canada left Canada to come to the US and serve the US military. Canada itself did not commit troops."

The sensational 1971 leak of confidential Pentagon documents sheds light on Canada's position on, and activities in, Vietnam. A McGill University professor has obtained portions of the Pentagon Papers that he says prove Canada's complicity in the war.

In the CBC interview (available on youtube) the presenter, Brian McKowen, states: "nah, actually, Canada did not send troops to Vietnam."

AC: "I don't think that's right'

BM: "Canada did not send troops to Vietnam."

AC: Indochina?

Vietnam's nine-year war with France officially ends in July 1954 with the signing of the Geneva Accord. The accord calls for a ceasefire and a temporary division of the country, to be followed by reunification and free elections in July 1956. Canada accepts an invitation in July 1954 to join the International Control Commission (ICC), a peacekeeping body designed to oversee the transition. . . The International Control Commission was made up of members from Canada, Poland and India . . . Canada served as a member of the ICC for 18 years.

You are wrong. Many Canadians served in the US forces in Vietnam. Try gathering a few facts before you post, noob.

Here's an idea, if you hate Ann Coulter so much, why don't you just stay the hell off threads about her?

This post starts off with some of Ann's best and most honest quotes....

Got to love Ann! She makes her mark and she is one of the best pundits present.

I would like to see more of her!

She is dead on about the 9/11 widows, too.

One minor point:

Ann wasn't writing about "9/11 widows" in general. The comments she made were specifically about the four "Jersey girls". In that respect, I agree with you.

The article (deliberately IMHO) obscures that fact.

In all fairness, the article did elaborate a bit by specifying that they were the ones who "have become prominent critics of the war in Iraq".

Glad to be of help, youngjim.

Some folks just like to split hairs and fuss for no good reason.

Sure looks like both Canada and Canadians were helpful to the U.S, after all, I got the impression that was Ann Coulter's point.

"Many Canadians served in the US forces in Vietnam"

Yes, they had to join the US Army, because Canada didn't send troops (Except for 240 to observe the cease fire)) to Vietnam. Canada proved material, not troops.
