In spite of both Mitt Romney's and Rudy Giuliani's long records of extreme-left governance, they are nonetheless traveling the country seeking to snatch the mantle of Reagan. And, I'm beginning to think that the political hacks who are working for them think they're Jedi, and that we conservatives are weak-minded clones.
Even though, while they were in office, both men appointed more Democrats than Republicans to the bench, they would have you believe that their court picks as President would be to the right of Robert Bork. But truth be told, Rudy Giuliani has spoken very highly of Ruth Bader Ginsberg, the most liberal member of the current Supreme Court, and Mitt Romney appointed radical gay activists to his state's courts during his time as the Governor of Massachusetts.
Romney is clearly a judicial supremacist and would do nothing to rein in the out-of-control liberal judicial activists that our country is suffering under. He proved it when, in spite of the complete absence of any law or constitutional provision authorizing it, he used his executive power to implement the awful Goodridge decision and institute gay marriage in Massachusetts.
In spite of Romney's own admission that he supported abortion since before Roe v. Wade, Giuliani's cozy relationship with the ghouls at NARAL, and his consistent support for even the most heinous of abortion "procedures," Romney and Giuliani would have you believe that the President of the United States doesn't have much effect on the continuing daily slaughter of thousands of unborn Americans anyway. "Move along...move along." So what if Mitt Romney ran to the left of Teddy Kennedy in their Senate contest a few years ago?
And in spite of Giuliani's flouting of the immigration laws as mayor of New York, and his open defiance of the courts and of Congress, leading to the invasion of that city by hundreds of thousands of foreign nationals, and Romney's squishiness on this critical national defense issue, both would have you believe that they are suddenly hawks.
In spite of Romney and Giuliani's past support for the so-called "assault weapons ban" and the Brady Bill, and Rudy joining the radical left in suing gun manufacturers, they both now want to play Charlton Heston on guns. Next thing you know they'll be out in the Midwest, wearing barn jackets and shooting ducks, like that other Massachusetts liberal, John Kerry. It'll be about as believable, too.
Romney brought socialized medicine, complete with taxpayer-funded abortions, to the Commonwealth, and Rudy likes to dress in women's clothes and fool around publicly on his wives. But hey, "we don't need to see their identification," now do we, Mr. and Mrs. Conservative American?
Even though Mitt is now telling everyone how bad the McCain-Feingold law was for America, he was touting even more radical assaults on the First Amendment before John McCain ever got on track towards trying to abolish free political speech for all but incumbent politicians and the liberal media. But these are definitely "not the droids we're looking for," are they?
The President of the United States is the most powerful man on the planet. He, in his person, makes up one-third of our federal government. So you would be advised to be very careful about who you throw your electoral support behind. You better make sure that they're really one of the good guys.
Don't go over to the Dark Side. Find a real proven conservative and support him.
As Obi-Wan said, a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away: "Who's the more foolish: The fool, or the fool who follows him?"

spot on article!
Good read, EV.
Great article. Thanks.
TY:)
Excellent post.
I for one am extremely angry at Giuliani and McCain for their deception. The should run as Democrats, and I wouldn't loathe them so much.
Good use of Star Wars quotes. Let me try...
NR to conservatives: "Do or do not. There is no try."
Why am I not surprised that YOU posted this?
Sounds like marching orders to me.
But let's try something nonfictional, to describe where we're at:
Let us raise a standard to which the wise and honest can repair; the rest is in the hands of God. - George Washington
To your credit, you didn't ping me. ; )
Neat. But I think my use is more apt. ;-)
Agreed.
May you remain vigilant...eternally. Of course, I'm sure we'll soon see a flurry of posts on how we MUST vote for Rudy or Romney. Why? Because they're the so-called "electable" ones.
Wow! This would be good. If it were written in a high-school newspaper.
OK, maybe middle school.
It IS her turn.. Too Cynical?...
Well the idiot Bush running against a known moron in 2000..
And against a known traitor in 2004 was a little TOO CONVIENT for me..
Sounds/feels rigged to me..
The left wing of the party is using their rhetorical big clubs awful early. It's still almost a danged year until the first vote is cast.
I'll think they're going to find conservative activists not easily intimidated, though.
But, we had better arrange for better weapons than clubs to respond as the year goes along.
I don't expect him to post his whole CV, but at least he could pick off the best item.
Romney isn't just a flip-flopper. He's starting to evidence a real character problem, i.e., a pattern of statements that are just one shade shy of the truth.
Examples:
ABORTION
"I am firmly pro-life. I was ALWAYS for life." (Feb. 9, 2007, in South Carolina, according to Associated Press)
"As governor, Mitt Romney would protect the current pro-choice status quo in Massachusetts. No law would change. The choice to have an abortion is a deeply personal one. Women should be free to choose based on their own beliefs, not the government's." (2002 Romney for Governor of Massachusetts web site)
You're absolutely right.
Ya think? ;-)

You know what scares me the most? Bush BARELY won in 2000 and 2004. What's that say about the typical Democrat voter?

I'm still reeling from last night's Rudy lunacy. Oh, we haven't even had a primary yet, but we MUST vote for him 'cause he's the only one who can win. Geesh!
This truth never changes: the "lesser" of two evils is still evil. You end up at the same destination only one may take a little longer. Most don't seem to understand that concept. I've seen it time and again with candidates that pretend to be conservative but with glaringly liberal records. All the usual cliches apply: tigers/stripes, leopards/spots, etc., etc.
True.. thats not even as scary as many many that DID VOTE for him would never vote for Romney, McLaim, or Giuliani...
"I believe that abortion should be safe and legal in this country. I have since the time that my mom took that position when she ran in 1970 as a US Senate candidate. I believe that since Roe v. Wade has been the law for 20 years we should sustain and support it." - Mitt Romney (1994)
"He [Romney] is a supporter of the federal assault weapons ban." - Romney 2002 campaign website
Romney Favors Waiting Periods
Regarding the Brady Bill which required waiting periods to buy a handgun, Romney stated, "I don't think [the waiting period] will have a massive effect on crime but I think it will have a positive effect." - Boston Herald, 8/1/1994

Well, I think that depends on which side of the street you're on. To the left, the gang of three, Romney, McPain, and Giuliani, aren't nearly as palatable as a true blue socialist Democrat. To the right, the gang of three make President Bush look like a far right zealot.
There is no/zero organized right wing in the United States currently..

You got that right. IMO, President Bush is largely responsible for that. His "compassionate conservatism" won virtually no allies on the left and sold out the right.
I could be wrong, but I think large numbers of Americans still believe in small government and individual freedom. At least I hope I'm not wrong. Unfortunately, our problems are more than just one person. The leadership of both parties is hopelessly compromised. For the most part, they've lost touch with their constituencies, but they are almost guaranteed election no matter what they do--and they know it!
This being the 2008 campaign as it is lining up so far.
You could be right.
Shoot. It could be 1860, the way it's going.
Words to live by during the long 2008 campaign.
Good essay.
(grumbles) Great, another lead in to a "not all stormtroppers are clones" "yes they are!" argument.
LOL...
Thanks, Reagan Man.
Try 1968. Only in reverse. (God forbid)
Oh my. You could have something there. I hope not, but it could happen.
You had to ping me to a freeper's blog at Alan Keyes' website? Oh, you mean the Alan Keyes this freepers and others support even though he wants the entirely unconservative notion of reparations? No thanks.
Don't ping me again.
Sorry, but my God you need to go into DI mode with some of the people around here when it comes to facing political realities.
Keep it up. The Dark Side may grow stronger and stronger and we may have our losses but I've read the last chapter and guess what...WE WIN!
Awesome.
I'm not going to say that Romney, McCain, or Giuliani are anywhere close to being Adolph Hitler. But I am going to say that I now know how someone like Hitler could rise to power with the complicity of the very people he would later brutally oppress. I knew it could happen here, in theory, but I'd never had it so strongly demonstrated to me the human nature that could allow someone like him to get the people to willingly let him take over a country. Not until this moment did I feel that our nation was ripe for someone like him to ascend to power. We are. And many people in this country including some right here in this forum would be cheering such a person on. "Sorry" won't cut it when something like that happens and they realize what they had done to make it happen. But that is the consequence of abandoning all moral absolutes, trading them for power and "victory" at all costs.
For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? - Matthew 16:26
