About 40 Israeli volunteers have been fighting alongside the Serbs as a gesture of gratitude for Serb support for Yugoslav Jews against the Nazis in the Second World War.
The existence of the Israeli fighters - they do not like the term mercenaries - was revealed by Ron Ben Yishai, an Israeli war correspondent who was injured by Kosovo Liberation Army sniper fire this week while reporting from the province for the Tel Aviv daily Yediot Aharonot.
The paper said that all the Israeli fighters had emigrated to the Jewish state from the former Soviet Union and were part of a volunteer unit, the majority of whose members were Russians.
Mr Ben Yishai quoted one of the Israeli volunteers, named only as Valery, who recently returned home after fighting in Kosovo for a month, as saying: "We decided to fight alongside the Serbs as a token of our gratitude for the assistance the Serbs extended to the Jews of Yugoslavia who were persecuted by the Nazis in World War Two."
The Israeli fighter said that another reason that he had joined up was "identification with the Christian Slavs' fight against the Muslims trying to take over Europe".
Diplomatic observers noted that, at an earlier stage of the Yugoslav crisis, many Islamic volunteers - including former members of the Afghan Mujahidin rebels who had fought against the Soviet forces - fought alongside the Bosnian Muslims.

Nothing personal, I understand chain of command.
But the war against Yugoslavia (round one in the war for the establishment of a muslim europe)is about the instance in history that I'd have supported mass desertions and outright mutiny.
I've noted here before that I cut off communications with friends (retired USA) who went over as advisers or consultants in an assault on people who had been our allies at a time when being our allies was a death sentence.
(I've also noted that I have known - known, not just met - some of the bomber crewmen that were saved by Yugoslav partisans)
Same here, a member of my church who passed-away only a year-and-a-half ago. One of the finest men I've ever known. He was pilot of a B-17 who was shot down and saved by the Serbs. Our war against the Serbs under Clinton was a moral obscenity which still taints us today.

question to ask is how many Arabs, Chechnyans, American-Albanians, Cdn-Albanians, American/Cdn-Croatians, American/Cdn-muslims went over to fight alongside the Bosnian muslim Army? Then of those, how many committed ghastly atrocities?
Do you know if Hoppy has spent time in the Balkans making mischief?

Furthermore I know that while it's not first and foremost on our agenda, we're going to see Kosovo given its independence.
Whichever adminstration's feet you choose to lay that at is irrelevant, because, in case you haven't noticed, so are you.
He was not much of a 11B, so I summise that he was relegated to the desk in the company office. So, I think he envisioned himself creating mischief. I think he was on the ground over there as a hired gun.

Well, well, now we need to match 80 Americans, since our country is larger to fight along side the Serbs since they also protected our butts in WWII. Think we will......?? Nawwwwwww. We'll just turn our backs. /sarc......
It's really starting to make me angry.
I was in Kosovo for five years......99-04....for your post, my hat is off, back on and a salute. I saw it first hand and had many U.S. officer drop in for coffee saying, "We bombed the wrong side"....which working for OSCE made me cringe a little, as I was basically neutral. However, the treatment was overtly, one sided.
Srebrenica was a lie...........the majority that was killed were combatants. Others were maybe killed due to the exchange of fire, others from their own people for being collaborators, the other 5,000 went to Kosovo and beyond to cause more trouble and Jihad as ordained by the CIA,ISI,Turkish Intelligence, Iranian Intelligence, and yes.....the old Saudi Intelligence...Reference "South Asia Analysis Group"; paper # 433, Questions and Answers -- part III.
The entire Balkans is build on half truths, fabrications and exaggerations. Instead of asking about the Serbs fighting along side the Serbs at Srebrenica, you should ask about CIA and contractors fighting along side Mujahadeen/Al Qaeda killing innocent Serbs not even paramilitaries..and killing POW's by cutting off heads. Want to see a clip made by the Muh killing a Serbian POW? Got a link for you. It's criminal and we supported them......and still are.
