Giuliani mining for campaign gold in Calif.
LA Times ^ | February 8, 2007 | Dan Morain

SACRAMENTO — Presumed Republican presidential candidate Rudolph W. Giuliani is seeking to broaden his fundraising base beyond Wall Street, aggressively prospecting in California with stops at a country club here and homes in Orange County and Del Mar in coming days.

A review of donors to the former New York mayor's presidential exploratory committee and to a political action committee he controls shows that his main contributors have been blue-chip law firms, investment houses and financial services companies in New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

Those states account for three-fourths of the money he has raised. But in making his second California trip in as many weeks, Giuliani is seeking to tap into the Republicans who hope to hang onto the White House in 2008. The success of Giuliani's efforts won't be known until he files his campaign finance statement in April.

Whilst in California he may want to stop in at the Reagan Ranch/Center and get acquainted with what a great President stood for.

Thanks for the ping! Cannot wait until we see the April report. I want to see how much the dinner in Houston thrown by T. Boone Pickes, Tom Ricks, and several others brought in because that is now getting into Texas money especially oil as well.

Business community supports Rudy which bodes well for America.

Rudy is a good man, and would be formidable in the War on Terror.

His no-nonsense approach to NYC crime and decay drove Libs nuts, and of course was a stunning success.

You've got my vote, Rudy!

If you look at Reagan's face, in the photo where he's shaking Rudy's hand, his smile is genuine, in the photo where he's shaking Clinton's hand, his smile is pasted on.

To determine whether a smile is genuine, look at the corners of the eyes.

In a genuine smile, the corners of the eyes crinkle, and in a fake smile, they don't.

Conclusion, Reagan liked Rudy, did not like Clinton.

Conclusion, Reagan liked Rudy, did not like Clinton.

Further conclusion:

Shaking the hand of a great conservative changed neither Giuliani, nor is it validation of anything (as the post above purports).

Both Giuliani and Clinton are baby-killing, homo-loving, gun grabbing liberals.

Giuliani WORKED FOR REAGAN!!

A lot of liberal Republicans worked for Reagan, and they did their jobs admirably. That doesn't mean I want to see them as head of the Republican Party and Presidential nominee.

Rudy is a good man who has done some wonderful things. He's just not the appropriate standard bearer for the GOP. His liberal social views are way out of step for the vast majority who have gravitated to the GOP over those social issues.

Well, I can assure you that Rudy's positions have been debated and argued about on these threads for a good while now, so you don't need to worry yourself on that account.

And the same is true with the other candidates.

The problem is that there are a few posters who stalk these threads not looking for a reasonable and mature debate but to just post insults that lead nowhere.

And it is happening on the other candidate threads as well.

Congresswoman Candice Miller Announces Support For Giuliani

New York, Feb 8 -

Michigan Congresswoman Candice Miller (R-MI) announced her support for Mayor Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States. Congresswoman Miller will speak about her endorsement this weekend during a speech to the Michigan GOP convention.

In announcing her endorsement Miller said Rudy Giuliani is the candidate ready to lead America.
“When deciding what candidate I wanted to be our next President of the United States I knew we needed someone who would continue the fight against terrorism, who has proven leadership and who has the record and experience of managing government and improving the economy,” Congresswoman Miller said. “Again and again on the most important issues facing America I came to the same conclusion, that former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani is the man we need to lead our nation.”

Mayor Giuliani thanked the Congresswoman for her support. “Candice Miller is an excellent public servant for the state of Michigan, and I am honored to have her support.”

By the way, including the Brady Bill was to point out support by Reagan for some sort of gun control, not to say that it's a great position taken by Rudy.

Both Giuliani and Clinton are baby-killing, homo-loving, gun grabbing liberals.

1. How many babies did Giuliani kill?
2. Even the most anti-gay people say: "love the sinner, hate the sin" and thus explicitly state that homo-loving is the way to go. Hating is for Muslims.
3. Giuliani knows that running a big city is different from running the country, Clinton does not.

Rudy is a good man.

I've thought about him for a good while.

Here's where Rudy will shine:

1. War On Terror - he will defend America to the death;
2. Lower Taxes - Rudy is a proven tax cutter;
3. Supreme Court - Rudy is a friend to Alito, Roberts and Scalia candidates;

Already an impressive list! But wait, there's more!

4. Crime - Rudy is a proven crime fighter;
5. Leadership - Rudy is a 9/11 hero;
6. Balls - Rudy will kick Democrat and Media ass - Rudy is no wimp appeaser - finally!;
7. Border - Rudy believes in closing the border first, and dealing with illegals second - the only realistic approach;
8. Abortion - Rudy or any President doesn't make the decision, the Supremes do. And if Rudy supports Roberts, Alito and Scalia type candidates, Rudy will be a pro-life supporter whether you understand it or not;
9. Guns - Rudy believes states should interpret sensible laws surrounding guns and any other weapons, but firmly believes in the Second Amendment. Rudy is no gun grabber;
10. Education - Rudy believes in education vouchers and parents' right to choose.

If the GOP wants to win, Rudy is the only realistic hope for 2008.

That's a mischaracterization of Giuliani's positions on both issues.

With respect to late term abortion, he favors it only in order to save the life of the mother.

With respect to the Second Amendment, he believes in the right to bear arms, but favors keeping guns out of the hands of criminals, and requiring gun owners to take gun safety classes.

Truth doesn't hurt me at all.

But you're not telling the truth about Giuliani, and your rhetoric is rudimentary, as well.

On the one hand, you've got Rudy saying, "I am opposed to abortion, but support a woman's right to choose in the first trimester, and also support later term abortions to save the life of the mother."

And on the other hand you've got "Rudy is a baby-killer!"

On the one hand, you've Rudy saying, "as an executive, I will enforce the Second Amendment, but support regulations to keep weapons out of the hands of criminals, and support requiring gun owners to take gun safety courses."

And on the other hand, you've got "Rudy is a gun-grabber!"

On the one hand, you've got Rudy saying, "I believe marriage is between a man and a woman, but support domestic partnerships for gay couples, and believe that homosexuals have exactly the same civil rights as heterosexuals, no less, and no more."

And on the other hand, you've got "Rudy is a fag-lover!"

I know which form of rhetoric I find more persuasive, and obviously, it's Rudy's.
