Hillary and Rudy could wrap it up this year
The Hill ^ | 2/7/07 | Dick Morris

Posted on 02/07/2007 6:21:25 AM PST by Blackirish

The nominees for the 2008 presidential race will be selected in 2007. The tempo of the new political process, driven by 24-hour cable news, Internet bloggers, conservative talk radio, and liberal NPR is so rapid that the nomination race cannot exist in stasis waiting for Iowa, Nevada, New Hampshire and South Carolina to get around to holding their votes in early 2008. Well before they open their caucuses or polling places, this nomination, in each party, will have been decided by the national media coverage during 2007.

Non-sense. Not too many people are happy with the current field. One mention from Oprah and Obama is an overnight sensation. Perot when he ran took off overnight. Nothing is settled until the votes start rolling in.

Yep, the first Primary debates take place on Apr. 4 - 5, 2007 in New Hampshire.... Less than two months away....
CNN, WMUR and The New Hampshire Union Leader will hold the back-to-back debates on April 4 and 5, the first such events to be held of the 2008 presidential campaign. CNN's Wolf Blitzer will moderate the debates with questions coming from WMUR's Scott Spradling and Union-Leader's John DiStaso. WMUR's Jennifer Vaughn will be moderating questions from the audience. The debate will be televised live nationally on CNN and throughout New Hampshire on WMUR.

Nope ...the old models are broken. They front-loaded the primaries and cash the mothers milk of politics has got to get rolling right now. Besides the extremes of either party are never

"Non-sense. Not too many people are happy with the current field"

The Base ...teachers unions...woman...love Hillary.....she doubles her rivals in most polling.

The base likes Rudy and with no Socon on the horizen he's nailing it down.

Feb. 5, 2008, will be Super-Duper Tuesday with, perhaps, Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, Delaware, Florida, Illinois, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oklahoma and Utah voting on the same day..

Think about that. That means that some obscure nominee won't be able to go to IA and NH shake some hands and come from nowhere.

They will need an entire national ground game and close to 100 million to buy radio and TV ads within a few months.

They have to make the ads ....hire thousands of people..pollsters...consultants...the logistics in this time constraints are staggering.

There are 5-6 people in the country who can pull that off. Rudy,Romney,McCaine, Hillary and maybe Obama, Colin Powell,Edwards.

They front loaded the primaries. It's pretty much game over. Unless Rudy runs as a liberal...which we know he won't..or pulls a Dean Scream...he's to smart for that...game over.....only Romney could keep up...and he's not so bad. McCaine is too damaged and old and he has stabbed too many Repub suits in the back ...the long knives are looking for payback.

It's Rudy's and Hillary's to lose.

Anyone polling in single digits is already toast.

I think Morris might be right on this. But if so, then we are in for a difficult 4 years.

Simply put, Rudy can't win the presidency. Conservatives who usually vote Republican will not vote for someone who is pro-abortion (even partial birth!) and is seen as a friend of the homosexual agenda. Additionally, if voters want to vote for a liberal -- why not just pull the lever for Hillary?

If Rudy is the nominee, Hillary will be the Queen (er, President). And if that happens, as much as I hate it, America will deserve exactly what she gets.

Hillary won't take one red state from Rudy.

I see Rudy picking up PA keeping FLA and OH maybe NJ.
He is currently killing her in those polls. His favorable's are twice as high as hers...that will only increase.

Also with Arnold's high poll numbers he could even take CA..

Rudy v Hillary...Rudy takes 40 states.

Actually that is the thinkg of the old model. With a website and a few appearances on cable you can create buzz and excitement and turn around numbers overnight. Certainly once the primaries get rolling things will be over quickly, but that is 2008, not 2007 like this article suggests.

We should just skip the primaries, campaigns and voting, and move straight to the coronation!

Might as well let the media pick the next President. That's what they're attempting right now with all these types of stories.

All hail! Queen Hillary!! OR - All hail! King Rudy!!

The problem with the "anointed by the Media" concept is that such coverage can be a double-edged sword - remember this pic of Dukakis in the tank?

Increasingly, such unguarded moments (for example, George Allen's "Macaca" comment) are recorded by non-media sources and then receive wide distribution on the net and elsewhere - irrespective of the mainstream media's preferences.

Under these conditions it's IMO likely that one or more "front runners" will be derailed by such coverage. Given his volatile temperament John McCain heads my list of potential media meltdowns and someone like Hillary Clinton is probably safest, but it could happen to anyone).

Hopefully a few years of this sort of coverage will remind voters that politicians are human, and they they all suffer such gaffes.

But I don't think that is going to happen before November, 2008.

"Now you have to win the American Media Primary of 2007 and then your victory is ratified in the primaries and caucuses of 2008."

Thus we get the media favorites pushed on us by the leftists; ie, Rudy, McInsane, Romney.

I started to answer an individual that brought up Morris' sex life as a valid criticism against his intelligence.

Then I decided against a flame and decided to post this generalized comment.

Like many others on this site, you seem to think that the quality of political reasoning is determined by personal habits and foibles such as sexual preferences (Morris and Sullivan)and drinking (Hitchins)which we must presume are foreign to your nature and therefore unworthy of your approval.

Does any sex act other than 'missionary style' meet with your standards for judging political discourse?

I doubt whether your criticism based on your presumed moral superiority is as useful to Freepers as these pundits since they are able make a living on their political savvy and their skills in communicating.

After the primaries are over, she (And the media.) will surely reemerge wearing her "Moderate" suit again, to attract the Independent voters. She is so easy to read.

Of course Hillary will try to go back to the center, but it's going to be difficult with this drawn out run up to the primaries. Hillary was not planning to announce her candidacy this far out because it presents a real problem for her, trying to please everyone for such a long time. Remember, it is very difficult to fool everyone for such an extended period.

I would say the biggest difference between Rudy and Hillary is....

Do you believe America in American exceptialism ?

Or are we pretty much no better or worse then other countries or cultures ?

Rudy would say yes we are exceptional...Hilllary in her heart...believes in multiculturalism.

With Arnold now polling in the 60's with his help he could take CA. Rudy by almost 40.

The 2008 election will be different..
Many republicans have had it with Bush and the other RINOs..
Bareing an actual non socialist republican running for President..
2008 will make 2006 look GOOD..

A good part of the republican party wants a Big Government Republican...
The rest are totally urinated OFF at that..
This election WILL BE different.. REAL DIFFERENT..
Even many on FR are delusional.. You can cut the denial with a 'nife..

I thought so.

Who needs a RINO when we can have a full fledged socialist that will destroy the "free market" that "President" Bush has maintained so well.

You can get lost in the forest for missing the tree's, however you will NEVER convince me of the same losing mindset.

Repeat as necessary, "President Bush...President Bush....President Bush..."

Accept it or accept a Democracy, AKA mob rule, for our "RINO" President has performed fabulously in stifling mob rule in our country while maintaining a Democratic Republic.

[.. Accept it or accept a Democracy, AKA mob rule, for our "RINO" President has performed fabulously in stifling mob rule in our country while maintaining a Democratic Republic. ..]

Democratic Republic is a redundant phrase.. therefore inaccurate.. and a clique..
A Republic is democratic in it's essence..
A Democracy is not democratic because it's Mob Rule or Tribal governance..
Mob's or a consortium of Mobs RULE.. by Mob leaders.. not ruled by "the people"..
Sharia Law is Mob Rule and very democratic.. rule by mob leaders..
Democracy is not very democratic..

Bush is a BIG government republican.. therefore a mobster..
He's proved it time and time again..

Democracy is the road to socialism. Karl Marx

Democracy is indispensable to socialism. The goal of socialism is communism. V.I. Lenin
