Astronaut accused of attempted murder

ORLANDO, Florida (Reuters) - A married U.S. astronaut was accused of attempted murder and trying to kidnap a rival for another astronaut's affections on Tuesday, and held in jail.
U.S. Navy Capt. Lisa Nowak, who flew on the space shuttle Discovery last July, drove 950 miles from Houston to Orlando -- wearing diapers so she wouldn't have to stop to urinate -- to assault a woman she considered competition for the affections of a male astronaut, police said.

You just can't make this up. Probably a little too much cosmic ray exposure there.

Don't even have to use the ineffective FR search - a quick scan of current replies will show about 1/3 of them devoted to previous threads on this topic.

Don't they do some kind of psycho test on astronauts? This lady shouldn't have slipped through the cracks. Diapers so she wouldn't have to stop to urinate? What a psycho.

Diapers so she wouldn't have to stop to urinate?
Probably NASA issue. They use them on launch and reentry/landing. I suspect female pilots of smaller aircraft, single and two seat fighters for example, use them too, since a relief tube is out of the question.

No, this is ANOTHER Lady astronaut who tried to kill a rival. It's just a bizarre coincidence that it was on the same day :0)

Needs more vanities pointlessly speculating on causes and effects of the scandal with plenty of tin-foil-hattery.

I stopped posting new threads, excepting a couple of special items like the Alaska earthquake, 2-3 years ago. Now if there is a new development I will post it within an existing thread. Many others do that also. It is probably a valid way to manage these topics as long as there is no way to concatenate threads aside from linking, and it keeps all the amazing commentary in one place.

Oefelein is from Anchorage, Alaska and his parents still live there. He graduated West High. Alaska is pleased to be part of this worldwide news phenomenon.

Let's see if the Navy courtmartials her for adultery--assuming that's what she was doing with the other astronut.

you know by asking to be pinged to this, we are openly admitting to being of a tabloid mentality and we always sneak peaks at the gossip mags at the hair salon. hey, i don't care. the rest of the news is so dang depressing and contentious i see this as a beacon of light much like the runaway bride story was!

I read that her husband moved out of the house several weeks ago, so where are their 3 children now and who is caring for them? With their mother all over the news and TV screens, what must their lives be like at school?....I really sad feel for them.
