I think you must be getting what we had last month. It was down around -27. No wind, thank goodness! Pretty, but COLD. Now, it's more moderate: 25 above, and SUNNY like you wouldn't believe, and we are gaining daylight like crazy. We saw some pussywillows blooming the other day, even. Yay, us!
It's 4 degrees here in Indiana, Pa as I type this.
Not fun in a 200+ year old drafty house!
-27 ... yikes! That must be like Siberia. But your current forecast is much more appealing.
Why is it we all moan and complain about the weather? Only 4 weeks ago, we broke a record with temperatures hovering near 70. Our snowfall so far this season, is also a record ... 1". So, I'm not complaining - just empathizing.
Thanks for that! I still have my Mothers of Invention album 'Freak Out', the one with 'Brain Police' and 'Return of the Son of Monster Magnet'. Also still enjoy Frank's solo 'Hot Rats'. When I was in England in 1971 Frank was voted "Best Guitarist" by the Brits. They loved him.
Anyways, yeah, I'm in a northern suburb of Philly and it's bone chillingly cold here. But the fire is good in the big cast-iron woodstove and we're staying toasty inside. Looking forward to 'Prison Break' and '24'.

I was there in '99. Truck tires flat spot frozen, car seat cushions freeze and do not give.
A real bumpy ride.
By the way, where's that moron Algore and his "global warming" when you need it?
It will be 68 Tuesday. I'll be working on the pool.

Yeah, I know what you mean, it got down to 69 in our house last night, and we don't have a heater to turn on (Hawaii)!
You all stay warm.............
I'm sitting here in Norteast Ohio and you've got me sweating just thinking about it. We're at 4 with a steady 15 mi/h wind from the NE. Schools are closed again tomorrow due to a predicted -20 to -25 wind chill. I think it's a bit silly, but I'm not in charge.
My son's cold water pipe in his kitchen froze. The place must not be very well insulated to freeze that easily. It's the first cold weather in his new place and he didn't think to let the water trickle.
About 40 miles east of us they picked up 14" of lake effect snow off of Lake Erie. We only got an inch or so but our season total is 32" so far. I'm happy to finally have winter back again! I love it.
I have my furnace drop to 62 overnight and with our cold weather, it doesn't start up soon enough in the morning. It's supposed to have a smart thermostat that figures out when it's cold outside. The last couple days it was dumb. It's working hard to get UP to 68. It's one of those little high-efficiency jobs and has to run all the time when it gets below zero.
My son goes to college with a girl from Hawaii and this will be her first real cold winter.
Where is that global warming I was promised?
Yes he was! The man had a creative streak in him that placed him amongst the great ones. God rest his soul!
12 degrees here in Sunny Virginia
