The differences between the buggy whip industry and the newspaper industry is basically that the whipsters didnt lie to and insult their customers on a daily basis, nor did they work to destroy America.

We find newspapers useful: the free ones I pick up at the convenient stores make great fire starters in the stove or fireplace.

I would like to know what an individual copy costs versus the advertising revenue per copy.

Here in Ontario, the Star and others are giving unsolicited free subscriptions everywhere. This is not to promote increased circulation. It is to convince advertisers to pay higher rates.

Losing circulation lowers advertising rates. That affects total revenues disproportionately.

I get a free local newspaper tossed onto my drive every Thursday. It's very nice. I use the plastic bag it comes in to pick up dog poop from the yard. The paper itself goes straight to the trash.
