Kaine requested to rethink police authority

RICHMOND -- Attorney General Bob McDonnell urged Gov. Tim Kaine (D) to rethink his decision not to seek additional immigration authority for state police investigating violent crimes. Kaine previously had dismissed an increased authority option, saying it would cost the state too much money.
"I am renewing my request to the governor in the interest of adhering to the rule of law and providing for additional public safety for our citizens of Virginia," McDonnell said in a press conference Jan. 17.
In addition, Sen. Jay O'Brien (R-Clifton) and Del. Tom Rust, (R-Sterling) announced their patronage of two bills designed to give state and local law officials the authority to enter into agreements with the Department of Homeland Security.
"Our law enforcement officers routinely come in contact with those that they have reason to believe are illegal immigrants. Yet, we have no ability to retain those people who are in violation of federal immigration laws," McDonnell said. "I think that is wrong and that we have the authority in Virginia to do something about it."
Webmail Kaine and tell him to change his position on this...

Changing headlines is a no-no, and you are old enough to understand why.
Richmond ping.
Kaine was on WRVA this morning and this question came up. Unfortunately, I did not hear his response. Did anyone hear it?
I would have been shocked if he had done otherwise.
What are you talking about - he quoted the headline exactly as it was printed.
The Democrats have a big investment in the illegal alien horde in Virginia. It provided them the difference in Webb's 9000 vote over Allen. (Yes, they do vote, in large numbers, because with motor voter and registration drives by Latino organizations while the state does little verification, and even less now that Kaine is in charge.)
Kaine made it an election issue by labelling anyone against ILLEGAL aliens as "mean-spirited" and racist, and was cheered on by the Washington Post and liberal local rags like the paper referenced here.
There is an increasing opposition to this toleration of the illegal invasion that is taking place at the grass roots, by the towns and cities and counties that are frustrated by the lack of enforcement at the state and federal level. Local politicians are picking up the clues that continuing to promote the illegal alien cause is becoming a losing proposition. Most of the local politicians named in this article were originally for or indifferent to the illegals in their midst because they wanted their votes. Now they are finding out that by doing so they were turning off the legal citizens who are paying a terrible price in welfare costs, jobs lost, neighborhoods devalued, and crime increased.
Can you give me an update on this? I am in the dark here and wondering what's going on.
Thanks a million!
