Baghdad McDermott Wants Baathist Back in Power in Iraq

One man’s obsession with Iraq

Seattle Times chief political reporter By David Postman January 5, 2006

WASHINGTON — Dal LaMagna has packed up his second home in New York and moved to a house a short walk from the Capitol to begin a one-man, self-financed lobbying campaign to get the U.S. out of Iraq.

#snip#

McDermott said he asked U.S. officials in Jordan to give visas to two Iraqis he wants to bring to D.C. But he said he has been unable to make that happen. LaMagna says getting Iraqis to Washington is key.

"They need to say to the American people: 'We want the troops out now,' " he said. "They need to say, 'Don't worry, we can resolve our problems ourselves.' "

After their November trip, McDermott and LaMagna developed a plan they say reflects what Iraqis want. It would undo major pieces of the Bush strategy.

They want U.S. troops out of the cities and sent to close the borders with Iran and Syria. They want the Iraqi constitution rewritten and the former Baath party government, which the U.S. dismantled, brought back to run things.

To protect the country, they say, the old Iraqi army must be reconstituted and rearmed.

In other words, these two Democrats desire to undo every advancement made in Iraq in favor of restoring it to what it was prior to our invasion and the deposing of Saddam Hussein, based on words they believe TWO unidentified Iraqis will say.

I wonder if they also plan on resurrecting Saddam to lead the country and murder, rape and gas his own citizens, all over again.

Piss on McDermott.

Baghdad Jim has had quite the connections to Iraq.

April, 2004: Congressman Jim McDermott this week returned a $5,000 contribution made to his legal defense fund by an Iraqi-American businessman who has admitted to financial ties with Saddam Hussein's regime.

I don't believe he ever stated publicly whether he returned the travel expenses.

A nonprofit organization, Life for Relief and Development, paid McDermott's $5,510 travel expenses for the Iraq trip, according to a disclosure form filed with the House clerk. Al-Khafaji has been named as a financial supporter of the organization

By any and almost all standards of warfare Iraq has been relatively successful with some problems like most wars have had. It's not Vietnam and the only similarity to Vietnam is people are getting killed in war. It's not a "civil war" in any real sense because while there maybe some technical similarities the murder rate would be easily 300+ a day with the amount of mixed neighborhoods by the usual civil war standard. The insurgents, terrorist, rebels, freedom fighters or whatever the MSM's new name is this week make up maybe one-tenth of 1% of the total population. The Rats, Rinos and MSM are so desperate to declare defeat for political reasons that they have now stooped to the lowest form of life, bringing known murderers back into power.

Why bother with forcing the Baathists on the Iraqis? It would be easier proclaim McDermott Supreme Judge, Jury, Legislator and President-for-Life, and give him the keys to the city. He could name Michael Moore Chief-of-Police, since he already has the donut gig down.

McDermott,as was Frank Burns of MASH fame ,was the unfortunate victim of demonic possession. They accidentlly exorcised the good spirit and left .....well you know. And that's too bad. Mcdermott has decided that tearing down America and elevating our enemies is preferable to trying to be a solid citizen

McDermmott has probably been on the payroll for the communists and now the Islamic Opecker Serial Killers for decades.

His trips, bank accounts and off shore accounts need to be investigated. Jimmy Carter has been receiving grants from the Saudi Opecker Princes/thugs for decades.

Scratch a liberal, find a fascist. McDermott appears not to realize that the Iraqis have an constitution and an elected government at this point and might be a little cranky about some goof in D.C. dictating a new government to them. The last time these clowns were in power the Iraqis buried upwards of a million people in mass graves.

Earth to Jim - they lost. They get nothing. Good day, sir.

Return of the Baath party? Saddam was a Baathist and was the chief beneficiary of the Oil for Food program. Lot's of cash for buying influence.......lots of party favors.

All involved skate although there must be reams of damning transaction records discovered and withheld from public scrutiny to protect the guilty. There is no such agency investigating with authority to prosecute these criminals.

The pro al Qaeda/Islamofascist Serial killers in our congress and MSM must be in a panic after Iraq hung their former $ugar Daddy, $addam for war crimes.

In a couple of years a free and very rich Iraq might be hiring former spec op and intel people from a successful WOT to investigate, idenfify and round up war criminals from America, the UK, and Eurotrash land, who supported the now dead $ugar Daddy, $addam.

"That's Rich."

But I think he might very well be right!!!

Grampa Dave believes in that ancient eastern idea of yin & yan, or ying & yang, if you prefer, and sees it as "what goes around... comes around but with much more momentum the second time around. He does NOT believe it's "more comfortable the second time around!"

I'm sure he'll correct me if I'm found to be wrong... as usual!!!(grin)
