No. But the crimes Americans have to deal with do not require the imposition of unconstitutional laws and the use of 40,000 police officers to enforce them.

There's a reason why this country hasn't elected someone from New York on a presidential ticket in more than 60 years . . . New York isn't even part of the United States as far as most Americans are concerned.

NYC is part of the U.S., it's just the New York City part. Same could be said about Ketchikan, Alaska or Del Rio, Texas.

It wasn't long after 9/11 that the New York City government instituted its first smoking ban in private establishments. And that same government now considers trans-fats to be the greatest threat its residents face.

I think a strong case can be made that New York City isn't even on the same planet as the rest of us.
