How would you explain that the three most violent cities, per the FBI, are Camden, St. Louis and Detroit, not exactly swarming with immigrants of ANY type?

This is just a case of the "crack babies" from the late 1980s reaching prime criminal age, to say nothing of the large amount of parolees arrested in the 1990s that are back out on the streets.

Houston's problem is connected business partners looting this city for billions in handouts.

They've been cutting the police force and not building addition jail cells. The jails are full so they don't want to pursue violent criminals (I know two women who were carjacked with weapons, including one who was kidnapped, neither criminal was ever charged or prosecuted although there were clear indications in both instances as to who did the crimes). Both were prior to Katrina and among 5 people I know who've been carjacked in the past 2 years. They'd rather prosecute revenue crimes (speeding, red lights, and DWI). Bag 'em, tag 'em, and bill 'em.

Katrina evacuees were invited to town over the better interests of the locals (including those who'd already rented out facilities for expensive convention business).

The mayor, Bill White(D), who'd served in the Clinton Administration, turned it into a successful ploy to avoid any serious challengers to his re-election.

The focus is on other matters. Our cities are a quagmire.

But where are the increases in murder? I bet that tracks the increase in immigrants very well.

1300? not even close.

2350 murders under Dinkins as mayor of NYC in his worst year.

If the Media Reported California News Like They Report News From Iraq (Chronwatch - December 20, 2006)

Imagine what the outlook towards California would be around the United States and the world if the press reported accurately as follows:

Day 1 Headlines: 15 MURDERS OVER THE WEEKEND
Day 2 Headlines: 360 ASSAULTS YESTERDAY IN CALIFORNIA; 6 MORE MURDERS
Day 3 Headlines: OVER 16,000 VIOLENT ASSAULTS AND ROBBERIES IN NOVEMBER; NO END IN SIGHT
Day 4 Headlines: RAPES REPORTED IN CALIFORNIA FOR OCTOBER UPDATED TO OVER 800
Day 5 Headlines: ANOTHER $600 MILLION SPENT LAST MONTH TO HOUSE CALIFONIA CRIMINALS
Day 6 Headlines: FOR 30th MONTH IN A ROW, OVER 330 CALIFORNIANS KILLED ON HIGHWAYS
Day 7 Special Report: CALIFORNIA HAS HIGHER INMATE POPULATION THAN GERMANY, FRANCE, THE NETHERLANDS, AND SINGAPORE COMBINED...

Believe me, this type of accurate reporting could go on day after day. Every year, over 4,000 Californians die in car accidents--approximately six times the average death rate of military personnel in Iraq. And, California technically is not a war-zone. The media asks the question why our military cannot stop the infiltration of insurgents from Saudi Arabia, Iran, and Syria into the Iraq theater. Yet, between 3-5 million foreigners have sneaked into California illegally in recent years.

It's up all over the country because of all the immigration. There, I fixed it for you! Immigration, by definition the normal and customary legal kind, is not a major crime indicator anywhere in the USA.

I've heard that Houston's is up 20x the national average.

That is beyond immigration (even from Katrina), that is a lack of will to do anything about it.

In the meantime they are down in LA.

You have to wonder if Braxton isn't the real deal. He has done well in LA in both results and PR (although his handling of that brat that tried to run over the 2 cops was atrocious!), accent notwithstanding.

The mayor has been busy making law on what people can eat. Violent crime is secondary.

When Rudy became Mayor the murder rate was 2200 the year before!

He got it down to about 600.
