VOA Concerns Mount Over Kosovo's Status
Voice of America ^ | December 22, 2006 | Barry Wood

Reaching a decision on the final status of the disputed Serbian province of Kosovo is becoming more difficult, because of Russian objections and a lack of consensus within the 25-nation European Union. VOA's Barry Wood has this report.

A decision by the European Union on Kosovo's future has been in limbo sincethe end of NATO's bombing campaign in 1999. Coupled with a lack of Russian support, it seems a quick solution for the region is further out of reach, according to Kosovo expert Daniel Serwer.

"I don't see the possibility of a peaceful, negotiated solution," he said. "Rather [I see] a continuation of delays and uncertainty, which could lead to problems in Kosovo.".....

"This is a CYA for when Kosovo explodes again."

Albania and Albanian Mohammedans have been a running, infected sore in the Balkans ever since they apostasized under the Turks. Time we got out of the way and let the Serbs, Greeks, Bulgarians and Roumanians "take care" of the problem.

If the U.S. agrees to this it must prepare herself for the independence of the SouthWest, per LaRazas wishes. The precedent will have been set.

If Kosovo's neighbors rightly say, 'No" to Kosovo independence, then why would we wish to stuff it down their throats? What's in for us?

Not quite yet, but soon. The changing of the borders is blatantly illegal and Kosovo is still a huge huge mess, so of course there isn't going to be a concensus with Russian and many EU countries. The US State Department and the ICG are only fooling some of the people some of the time.

Now this lack of concensus is just going make the Albanians impatient, and how do impatient Kosovo Albanians behave? - They get very violent. After this escalating violence is directed at the UN and Kfor, and the true nature of the KLA is made so obvious that no one in their right mind could deny it, then it will be time for the Serbs, Greeks, Bulgarians and Roumanians to right the ship.

It seems with each passing day consensus on the final status for Kosovo gets further and further away. Like the monkey said when he backed into the lawn mower - It won't be long now.

It would almost appear that the grand strategy is to have the fester known as Kosovo, spill over into neighboring states, particularly along certain pipeline routes from the Caspian region, but that would be way too obvious.

nawww.... surely they don't think that this would "spill" into South Serbia and Macedonia. This could never happen even if they had the UCPMB divided into three units....linked to the TMK/KPC or should I say the true KLA which never ceased to exist, but still exists. It could not mean that it would spill into Macedonia even though three units down there in 2001, combined forces to be the NLA and start trouble Macedonia..when they weren't shooting at each other over the share......the same for Montenegro. In all cases the rebel groups were supported by us in more manner or another. Like I said, this can't mean that it would expand to develop the designs of the Greater Albania...../sarc

"I don't see the possibility of a peaceful, negotiated solution," he said. "Rather [I see] a continuation of delays and uncertainty, which could lead to problems in Kosovo."

**** Could lead to problems in Kosovo????? So, what do we have here, Rip Van Winkle just woke up from his deep slumber. Where has he been since 1999?

"More than 90 percent ethnic Albanians - want independence, but Serbia refuses to agree."

*****I suggest that since New Mexico and maybe southern Calf. has so many of the Mexicans living there we should give them independence as well given this logic above.

now the most telling comment of all........a real blue ribbon winner...

"It's crucially important that the Serbs in Kosovo can be involved and stay there," he said. "Of course, they need to have security. They need to receive the possibility to work, to make their living. They need to be more engaged in the political life of whatever is happening in Kosovo."

**** So, I suggest that the author for one month, change his name to a Serbian name, learn a few basic Serbian phrases and hit Gnjilane, Pristina, Vitina, etc...and, well, enjoy the life of a Serbian on the streets in open public without the benefit of military escort in order to shop......let's then see what he says......better yet, good advice would be to tell him to wear a protective vest and certianly a pair of Keds Red ball shoes to be able to run fast...........Seriously, what a very stupid paragraph he wrote, and blows ALL credibility of this persons knowledge of the true situation. The ones adapting to the MSM will buy the crap....but, those that know this article will only serve as more fuel to the fire for anger toward the MSM....

My sources are telling me that there is finally a planned Spring Offensive for March/April 2007 timeframe for thousands of Rebel forces that have been training in over 15 camps within Kosovo to lock KFOR into their camps and launch an offensive. It should be interesting to see if this is true. The beauty of it is that they can spring it since their practice in March 2004 was a clear success, that was a practice and show of force in IMO. They have the upper hand to spring the surprise over night, or during a planned kosovo wide demonsration that turns ugly. I can't see KFOR getting in a shoot out with the Albanian participants. That is what they are counting on.....

Watch for the signs....reports if analyzed by january to middle of February will be the indicators....It can be stopped now if they wanted, but they don't want. As a matter of fact I would venture a guess we and other international units are serving as advisors helping them plan their choke points, positioning, supplies, road blocks...and camps for internment....so forth and zo on...

Tom sorry I missed this one. I agree there will be interference by the KLA against the NATO troops. If it comes down to it I do believe it will be up to how the KLA can stand up to the Serb VJ and from what I hear they are focused. Serbs and VJ will hammer it out and the winner takes all.....

BELGRADE, Serbia — The U.S. Air Force will sponsor training for Serbian pilots at its U.S. academy in Colorado as part of widening military cooperation, the American ambassador to Belgrade said Friday.

And then we have this.......................

Serbia to overhaul 5 Mig-29 jets in Russia
12/25/2006 11:41:31 AM EST
UPI Top Stories

Serbia will send its five Mig-29 warplanes to Russia for overhaul to improve Belgrade's air defense capability, local media said Monday.
During the weekend, Russia and Serbia signed an agreement on the $40 million overhaul of 13 transport and combat warplanes, including five Mig-29s and helicopters to be used for both military and civilian needs, Belgrade's Tanjug news agency reported.
Serbian Defense Minister Zoran Stankovic told reporters in Belgrade the overhaul of two Mig-29s is to be completed in October, while two others will be refurbished by the end of 2007. The fifth Mig-29 will be overhauled in 2008.
Serbian Chief of Staff Col.-Gen. Zdravko Ponos said the repair and modernization of the five jets is not linked to Serbia's obligations to NATO's Partnership for Peace. He said the work would have been done earlier if Belgrade had the cash.
Ponos said Serbia will not purchase any new warplanes until 2010, opting to modernize and overhaul its current equipment.

Tom maybe the US wants to make nice with Russia and not drive the relationship back to the days of the Cold War. Russia has oil and the KLA run heroin. I believe the party is over between the KLA and the US. The Serbs are getting ready to take Kosovo back. Probably was decided at some embassy cocktail party that the US and NATO need to take troops out of Kosovo and put them where they are needed. The Serbs can do what they have always done, stand firm against the Islamic fanatics which are most definitely in bed with the KLA. Why support the KLA when they will just stab you in the back later when the time is right. Who wants another Iraq? The Serb VJ will sort things out...
