Another search through different avenues has failed to turn up APs source for more than 60 reports of atrocities and murders:
The AP (non-)responds and another search comes up empty.

In recent days, a handful of people have stridently criticized The Associated Press coverage of a terrible attack on Iraqi citizens last month in Baghdad. Some of those critics question whether the incident happened at all and declare that they don't believe our reporting.
Indeed, a small number of them have whipped themselves into an indignant lather over the AP's reporting.
Their assertions that the AP has been duped or worse are unfounded and just plain wrong.

" that captain has long been know to the AP reporters and has had a record of reliability and truthfulness. He has been based at the police station at Yarmouk, and more recently at al-Khadra, another Baghdad district, and has been interviewed by the AP several times at his office and by telephone.
His full name is Jamil Gholaiem Hussein. "

"Fake but Accurate" is a reference to the Dan Rather imbroglio where Mr. Rather pawned off "fake but accurate" documents attempting to bring President Bush's behavior in the military reserves into question.

This thread could use some "Beirut Baby" pictures. I don't have the ability to post pictures, but it seems that AP and KATHLEEN have taken REUTERS dirty little trick and SUPERSIZED THE LIES. I do recall that REUTERS was forced to admit their lies and fire/hide one of their terrorist photographers.
My personal favorite was the old lady bomb magnet. Poor thing. She was howling and wailing in front of three different piles of rubble. On different days.
The good news is that she is currently touring with Jimmy Carter on his book tour. :))

Two New Members Named to AP Board
Monday April 3, 11:39 am ET
Five Incumbents and Two New Members Are Elected to the Board of Directors of the Associated Press
CHICAGO (AP) -- Five incumbents and two new members were elected to the board of directors of The Associated Press in results announced Monday at the annual meeting of the news cooperative.
Re-elected to three-year terms were Walter E. Hussman Jr., publisher of the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette; Douglas McCorkindale, chairman of Gannett Co. Inc.; R. John Mitchell, publisher of the Rutland (Vt.) Herald; Gary Pruitt, chairman, president and CEO of McClatchy Co.; and Jay R. Smith, president of Cox Newspapers Inc.
The new members are Kenneth W. Lowe, president and CEO of E.W. Scripps Co., and Jon K. Rust, publisher of the Southeast Missourian and co-president of Rust Communications.
Two members have retired -- Robert C. Woodworth, president and CEO of Pulitzer Inc., and Lissa Walls Vahldiek, chief operating officer of Southern Newspapers Inc. Vahldiek was vice chairman of the AP board.
Re-appointed to three-year terms on the board were David Westin, president of ABC News, and Bruce T. Reese, president and CEO of Salt Lake City-based Bonneville International Corp., both representing the broadcast industry.
The Associated Press is a not-for-profit cooperative of U.S. newspapers and broadcasters, a global network providing coverage of news, sports, business, entertainment, politics and technology in all media formats to some 15,000 news outlets in more than 120 nations, reaching more than 1 billion people a day.

Maybe the AP can arrange an interview with Jamil and Michelle Malkin or just take a picture of him. I'm sure they have a camera over there somewhere.
To: george76
Who gives a shit? Why does the Administration or the faggots in the Pentagon care what the AP says? Just ignore them. Prosecute this war with ruthlessness, and don't dare charge a single American with ANY crime. Frankly I blame Rumsfeld for the stupid idea of "embedding" reporters with our troops from day one. When the war is popular, these reporters give nothing but good news. But when things turn ugly they turn on America in a heartbeat. The American Media has ZERO loyalty to this nation. They must be treated as an enemy agent.

No way. Slats was a patriot, as was Royko. I didn't always agree with him, but he was definitely a patriot. The current news media could learn a lot from a Mike Royko. I knew a very nice, but fashion princess type of girl who was 'slummin' at Billy Goats Tavern one night with friends. She approached Royko and he told her to "get a job". This might sound 'mean', but knowing the story with a few more details, it was probably appropriate coming from Royko.

Yet another great investigative report by Malkin and the blogosphere!
Although misoblogists (haters of blogs) may feel upset when basic truth ruins a dramatic story line some misoblogomy may manifest feelings of
anger, confusion, and depression brought on by
Middle America's newfound freedom of information:
Independence From the Press Rocks the Gatekeeper's World
...
To say, I dont think newspapers can be the gatekeepers anymore, as James OShea did, is to recognize an historic shift in the politics of information. Its the sort of thing that can leave you stunned, angry, confused and depressed, if you have always thought of yourself as keeper of the gate.

My comparison of this Hussein guy to Slats is that (keep the secret) Slats was a made-up character, and so is this Captain in the AP stories.
And one of the last Slats Grobnick quotes I can remember came shortly before the US went into Kuwait; "Who is this Sammy Hansen guy, and why are trying to make nice with him?"

"My comparison of this Hussein guy to Slats is that (keep the secret) Slats was a made-up character, and so is this Captain in the AP stories."
I knew what you meant, but I wanted to take the opportunity to write a blurb about Royko, who I think was what Democratic voters used to be. Namely, on the side of those who were hard working and honest and who took personal responsibility for their actions (e.g. "Ask not what your country can do for you......"). Those types of Democrats probably still exist, but they sure as hell aren't calling the shots in that party. I hate to be so serious before Christmas, but I have no doubt in my mind that we are in a crucial period of history, and we will be tested as much or more than the World War II generation. Probably more. Aren't I a ball of fun?
To: pieceofthepuzzle
No, you're right. And I think we're failing the test.
To: pieceofthepuzzle
I have two compilations books of Royko's columns. While I don't agree with him on some things he was a colorful personality and also a fine writer.

AP's reporters are and have never been, as far as I know, embedded with our military units. These slugs sit around their hotel in the Green Zone and swap gossip and fabricate stories that AP duly "reports".
