The cave paintings were not celebrations of the hunt or any such nonsense. They were Ms. Caveman's shopping list and directions to the grocery store for Mr. Caveman.........

OK - I can go along with that!!!!
I've got to get back to my fudge, it should be down to 110 by now.....
But I have to tell you this first, Jax just asked if she could have a cookie (she's doing homework) and then asked whre the oatmeal cranberry cookies were because they are the "yummiest".......so much for my public schooled kid who gets to watch TV and play computer games being some sort of junkfood/sweets junkie!!!

We got one of the split-system air conditioner heat pumps and love it. Our air conditioning costs were maybe $20/month and it has already saved us hundreds on our fuel oil bill. Only draw back is the one we bought only works as a heat pump down to about 40 degrees. But that's fine since we have several months spring and fall where that works fine.

Yup. Local area is a mess -- power lines and power poles down all around.

I run an earth stove too. It heats 2000' and is the only heat we have. Most evenings we have to open the front door even when it is below freezing.
Pellet stoves are convenient but when the power goes out your not going to stay warm long. Even the back up batteries don't last too long.
To: finnsheep
That's the practical limit on all such units; most are equipped with electric strip heating elements to warm when the outside air dips.

Our HVAC needs electricity to heat as well because it has to power the thermostat, the combustion fan, the distribution fan and the solenoid controls (about 800watts).
Gotta have lots of blankets handy for emergencies.

When I was in the mining business, I would stop by a place that had a flock of small hens and an "eggs for sale" sign. The egg shells were light green. What kind of chickens were these ?

I'm glad you're healed up enough to be here, but didn't the instructions say not to sit on the stove?Ya know, my wife told me the same thing. She did enjoy the rumproast though.
Merry Christmas
